Max might have a different perspective, but Epic lends out their engine experts (on-top of the service packages you get per/seat you pay for)
and they are there to mostly push you into the entire EU5 pipeline
and it does feel/look modern and complex, which is partially why I think they stick
rather than actually being useful or even practical
I am sure it is a good tool, but if you are using a wrench when you need a hammer because you can't be bothered to reach over to get it your game is going to turn out like shit
Is nanite the thing they were showing when they did the big E3 unreal 5 press conference
because we kept making fun of how much they were talking about how amazing the trees are
every one of the UE5 tech demo showcase things has turned out to be a scam
their lighting was the worst offender
with the little mini-suns in that cave
this one
this is the Cryengine one I remember
of them scanning rocks
this photogrammetry has thankfully mostly died out
because it was such a meme

lol the cave demo was the first thing i thought of when max brought up nanites, though i think the one i was thinking of was a shadows demo
The fact Epic has been trying to push (successfully) for UE5 to become the foundation for a lot of movie and youtube production
is still insane to me
I think the parts of the bethesda engine everyone likes and associates with something being a "bethesda games" would be possible to recreate in another in-house engine, but the more we've talked about this, the more I've realized there really is a short list of things that their engine needs to be able to do that it can't currently
and Starfields definitely a bad game to look at in that regard, since the entire space part of the game is just so completely phone'd in on top of being difficult to make work in their engine
Replying to Dane #princelydone how do you know so much about all this?

You can infact hit them with your car
I can't beleive the final mission in Silksong is to kill the Jews
I could get higher on juggle, once I figured out the trick
