when people started 3-D scanning rocks back in the early 2010s, they realized pretty fast that their 10,000 LoD pointmaps were impractical, and gave up
it's funny to see everyone re-learn the same lessons with UE5
well, I say re-learn
but they keep doing them
Replying to taxes #tzfi This is the big issue with UE5 in general. Epic makes extremely powerful tools, however their uses are niche, need to be used carefully, or require specific implementation, but no one... actually does it.
Yea the way you put it makes it seem like either devs or their leads tell them they must use all the newest UE5 tools and features.

Max might have a different perspective, but Epic lends out their engine experts (on-top of the service packages you get per/seat you pay for)
and they are there to mostly push you into the entire EU5 pipeline
and it does feel/look modern and complex, which is partially why I think they stick
rather than actually being useful or even practical
I am sure it is a good tool, but if you are using a wrench when you need a hammer because you can't be bothered to reach over to get it your game is going to turn out like shit

lol the cave demo was the first thing i thought of when max brought up nanites, though i think the one i was thinking of was a shadows demo
