the shard economy is bad design (seperate issue)
Pika
for you as a 3rd party
how many MMO quests do you think are in this game
would you guess
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 the shard economy is bad design (seperate issue)
Well yes, I don't even know how a single person could have thought this was a good idea.
I kept thinking "these quests are so bad, there's no way these aren't dynamic quests"
at multiple points
there are ~10 "sniff the cumstain and follow the smoke"
there are ~20 "kill 0/15 rats and bring me their pelts"
there are ~7 delivery/escort quests
nor do I
you were wrong about the mushrooms, but that's all

Also the quest I couldn't be bothered to do: Go kill about 30 enemies total with specific tools.
yeah FUCK that one
poorly explained too

Are you gonna be as adamant about this one as your DS3 head canon
a lot of them were
Replying to Gent #gent_. Are you gonna be as adamant about this one as your DS3 head canon
Gent, it's literally one of the main act 3 quests, I'm not arguing this
when you eventually play it you'll see that the devs clearly did intend for it to be thematically what I said
which makes sense, because that fits in with their whole world anyway
there's also the lack of bosses
I don't understand why they feel so backloaded
and why they feel worse than HK
Replying to TinyBomby #tinybomby What did you say about the mushroom, Spooky?
the Mushroom storyline from the first game, is they they'll outlast the dying world, they always have, and again in Silksong that's their storyline again
it was a (weak) sequel hook in the 1st game
that's what I said as well when Gent sperged out about it the first time
but saying it's non-cannon is retarded
Replying to TinyBomby #tinybomby All I saw of the mushrooms was that they are watchers looking for the "end of the age" because they like to watch notable things happening. Not the literal ending of the world or anything like that, but just notable world events.
yeah, I think it's up to interpretation how much of the broader world is impacted beyond the confines of the playworld of the events in-game
Replying to Dialga #god_of_time complaints about currencies and some of the quests aside, I do disagree with what spooky said about the bosses
really? I felt like the end-game bosses were mostly far more interesting and better spaced out compared to the earlier areas. There were times in the early game where I was confused why they kept throwing arenas at me instead of a boss.
even though in both cases it's apocalyptic

this is a better way of saying what I said btw
no, the pacing in the first half was really out-of-whack
and the added drawback of very few bosses were mechanically/thematically interesting
I'm not trying to suck HK off too much, because it also had plenty of filler early bosses
but it had a way larger number of memorable fights, paced really well for the entire game, until the endgame where there were more repeats
agreed
almost all of the act 3 bosses are good (extra so if you do the filler kickstarter backer ones in act 2)
i have a more recent experience with Hollow knight, and i did directly compare HK to Silksong fairly well i think, and i did mean it when i said i enjoyed silksong more than HK. Maybe i value exploration more than you guys, but i also did like more fights and the movement in general was more fun.
