Replying to Polar_ #polar_ Bringing back the old team is a good idea, but S3 will need to be such a big patch that just removes mechanics and moves and I cant picture them doing that
That's an issue with these gigantic dev teams. If you've spent money and dev resources programming/animating/implementing a feature like heat burst, you're not gonna just take it out one patch, even if it's hurting the game flow. Sunk cost fallacy and all that
Replying to Polar_ #polar_ Ive never touched VF, I just know its fucked up
VF is a lot more neutral-focused, with shorter strings and a quicker match pace than Tekken. I'm dogshit rn but I'm having fun getting owned. I can tell I'm getting outplayed by the boomer playerbase and not just getting steamrolled by a guy doing his one gimmick at me over and over. If you ever get REVO, hmu

Because I did not want to start the french game, and I was the first one to finish the PPP subgroup of the rancebookclub's current game, I played through 90% of the main story of shantae half-genie hero today, spurred on by the fact that apparently the new game is coming this summer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFNIwsKJM7U here is the trailer for maybe dialga and anyone else who might care
Yeah the art style is good
That's the only shantae I played I'm pretty sure
Which is funny because (I have not played seven sirens) it is the only one that I would say is not a metroidvania but a progression platformer
Which may or may not be a real term, but I distinguish level based games and connected world games
no my bad, it was the DS one
Ah the second one
That one was alright
also Pika
https://www.mariowiki.com/Shantae_NAB! Don't forget this game in your shantae playthrough
Shantae NAB!
Shantae NAB! is a downloadable microgame in WarioWare: D.I.Y. and WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase. It was released in America on April 19, 2010 and Europe on June 4, 2010. It was made by Matt Bozon, and is a Big Name Game. The microgame is based on Shantae, a franchise developed by WayForward.
www.mariowiki.comoriginal sequel that got scrapped
I'm taking issue with "progression platformer"
that's just a platformer
99% of platformers have progression
Spooky, I agree that the term is stupid
other than the ones where the entire game is a single level
But I wanted to distinguish between typical metroidvanias of an open world variety, and this game which is level based and not open world
but I do not know a good term for that
Replying to Dialga #god_of_time I havent played anything pre-pirates curse
You've just not played the first two games then
the gbc game is very impressive as a gbc game, the ds game is alright
thats the second one
The original game does not have a tagline
it is just shantae
It is a game boy colour game, so unlikely they will
Risky's revenge got a port in 2014 which is why that is on steam
although I just pirated the original release and emulated dsi ware for some reason instead of buying that version
ok Pika,
level-based (or linear) metroidvania
I do feel like you can just call it a platformer though, again I don't think that's really an uncommon thing as far as platformers go, stages add new mechanics over-time, and often that's done by giving the MC some new power/upgrade
Yeah, probably fair
either way, the entire point was for naught since you were wrong about which one you played
true!
Polu can we go back in time and get them to actually make this
I knew I didn't play the pirate one
and was trying to remember which one was before it
it is on the switch emulator
Replying to Dialga #god_of_time not emulator
It's on eshop but it's emulating it, it's not running natively
You can publish a port that has a packed in emulator, that is arguably a way of making a port of all time
Most sega collections are emulating the games, as an example
Ocarina of time on gamecube similarily is emulating the N64 iirc
Speaking of gameboy advance
polu post a link to the thing
Since we both forgot to mention it here and its funny
I tried out a bit of the Soulframe beta yesterday, feels like going back in time
