Most students just take english 3 and four at the highschool

Some students take dual enrollment ENC1101/ENC1102, or AP english lang and AP english 3 and 4

tbh I thought highschool was a joke even with like 5 AP classes

Their more rigorous curriculum is that you have the option of taking AP or college classes

HS should be a joke you do not get to nontrivial topics until like year 4 of university at the earliest

the class was basically -know how to play guitar/piano or you fail

at minimum a path for retards and one for people who can actually do the material

I feel like your problem should more be the schools who's students are stuck in taking basic ass english classes when they could be participating in college ones

Main thing most profs complain about is the lack of circle/elliptical geometry new students know

I relearn them every time I tutor someone in them

Because really, it's not that the school is too low of a level for the school to teach the kids, it's more that the kids are at a higher level than most, so they compensate by providing opportunities like dual enrollment and stuff to atleast get them a bonus for being smart and working hard or whatever- dual enrollment isn't the standard, there's only like 4? kids in my class graduating with an AA

I do agree with spooky though. If it is considered a college class, then HS should just teach more and college should start at an even higher level

This all ties back into a problem High school diplomas are fucking worthless, and schools don't have enough state curriculum to provide more than two years of valid coursework we've lowered standards for the last 15 years, starting with no child left behind if we don't have a purpose to high school, don't send people to high school if we're admitting that at grade 10, they might as well just start college, that means colleges have also slipped why do we accept that "the first year of college is worthless anyway" or in your case first 2 years

I think it is kinda silly that as a math major my college would want me to take two semesters of american history even though the normal student would have taken that exact same thing in 11th grade, so why should they retake it

at uni we got a LOT of freedom

Sorry, my math major would want me to take like 2 credits of a history

my program has not done that. Only non math/physics elective I took was a philosophy course on arguementation and formal logic

and I did not need to take that

my program lets me take whatever the fuck I want

WE got a list of 100+ courses broken into categories

I haven't actually picked courses for my uni so maybe it'll be like that, for the local community college they say specific requirements for an AA in certain programs
