I know it's not what you were pointing out, but I kind of feel bad for people with that attitude. Dude is super young and wants to retire and... ?
Spooky Phijkchu rawb
It's complex, because I think people should want to set and pursue their own goals in life, which are very rarely ever going to be financially compensated like working a 9-5 is
mtcdood rawb
It's not about being some wage slave, it's about having something to do. People die real quick after they retire a lot more often than you might think.

I benifit from having deadlines in the way that I am good at knowing how long things take me to do so I make sure I start so I finish by the deadline, other than that, I don't really need them

what do you mean "fill", idk why people should need to be babysat by an employer on the offchance they might get bored
Being bored and life being pointless aren't the same thing.

I think Spooky for sure and me to a lesser extent have a hard time agreeing because both of us for sure have the thought "I do not have enough time in the day to do all the things I want to do"

If I didn't have to work, I wouldn't. The only thing I would feel bad about is fucking over some people I like at my job by leaving.

I also think there's peace to be found in accepting that your life is small, that you don't have to make contributions on which the world turns A lot of people rush to whatever the biggest city they can, and work their way up come cooperate ladder trying to attain importance or influence

I think the problem with this discussion is I think for the most part most of the people in this server are not good examples of "the average person" in the sense that we are all fucking weird and strange in different ways

But there is so much to do that isn't work
There are 2080 hours of work in a year, if you work 40 hours a week. Can you list fill 60K hours?
Spooky Phijkchu rawb
I don't feel stressed by the idea that a week could go by where I was "non-productive" Nor do I think I'm the kind of person who lacks the ability to find or think of interesting things to do
