And while Google could afford to keep Stadia running with no problem, if it continues to be as big of a financial loss as it is, they have zero incentive to.

The only reason google would keep something running is if it becomes a monopoly

It's pretty much the exact same situation as OnLive, but OnLive at least was an idea that was ahead of its time and made the company money when Sony bought it to convert into PS Now.

I don't think I've actually lost digital games from stores being shut down. The closest I can think of is buying a game that used eLicense, the company shut down and stopped selling, and if you want to install the game on a new computer and register it, you have to contact the company that licensed the eLicense software to the publisher that shut down.

I've lost nintendo wii eshop games, that is the closest thing I have experienced
Actually this is true; I completely forgot about the Wii Virtual Console and the Wii U eShop, but that's because I put homebrew software on my systems and backed shit up, and can flash shit onto the systems at any time.

Actually on my Wii I would have to re-do it. I let my brother borrow some old systems years ago when he had cancer and couldn't do anything, and one of his kids ended up doing a factory reset on the Wii.

When I was doing my stupid rance playing, I learned that alicesoft made a lot of their old games freeware and just released them all, and I wish more companies just did that

I have no idea, apparently. I read "Rob made some bs statement that all of his stuff would go public domain in 4 years" to mean the videos he's produced, regardless of where they were initially published.

That's me not being articulate or deliberate enough with my choice of words. I was saying "IP" as different than an "individual work," with an IP being something like Unforgotten Realms, and an individual work being Unforgotten Realms Episode 1.
