I think my answer would probably be 1 or 3 as my preference

I prefer it to be when you can at least be at a point where you understand you’re making a big choice, but not so late in the game that it just feels arbitrary

Do you like when it's flag based, where the sum of your actions cause an outcome, or when you get to overtly choose one or the other
