I was wrong, I guess they weren't the deep rock galactic guys
Dialga posted it earlier, I wouldn't be surprised in Microsoft/xboox does the same
the game doesn't run on the old consoles, by any reasonable standards
you've seen the clips, idk how the console version got past QA
I mean, I'll defend the game itself as being fun
But it launched in a terrible state, literally unplayable on last gen consoles and runs like hot garbage on PC and PS5
I'm just glad they didn't blame Corona
that's the biggest cop-out
to be fair, I haven't been closely following their PR machine, so maybe it came up
but with all the launch issues, they haven't been pushing that narrative from what I've seen
I'm not sure when the point of no return was for the game
back in June/July maybe?
the ~3 week delay from Novmeber to December is trivial in the grand scheme of things

once they turned on the big marketing machine though, they were locked into the release date for Holiday 2020
I'd love to hear when that was
People have been tearing apart the code, it's pretty clear the game we got was started in 2016/2017 or at least the core engine work was done then
so before that, whatever they had was scrapped
or had to change engine or something
The game has sold 15M copies during launch week
and as much as people claim consoles are an important market and whatnot
the majority of sales were PC
(slim majority mind you)
That's the most copies sold since GTAV's launch,
For first month sales:
GTAV - 23M,
RdR2 - 15M
Animal Crossing NH - 14M
Diablo 3 - 12M
Skyrim - 10M
It's amazing how much Cyberpunk has sold
unprecedented
all these companies should be more relaxed with refunds in general, especially for AAA games
Steam's blanket 2 hour refund window is pretty good, and usually they just let you refund even past that time limit
From what I've seen from consoles though, there's no automatic process
people have to email support and beg
that's a good point, I'm quick to forget that
I'm sure they could remotely kill the license tied to the disc too
microsoft does indeed follow playstation and offers refunds

Its on steam, thats always refundable under steam rules
which is already pretty reasonable for all games
yeah but 2 hours is pretty reasonable
you'll know within 2 hours if you can't run the damn thing
plus Steam is pretty loose on the 2 hour rule anyway

I haven't completed the entire demo yet, they give you 7 ages to climb through or something like that
but I think I'm on 4/7
it definitely scratches that civilization itch
I'm not sure I'm sold on how they're doing combat
I like the concept a lot more than how it actually plays out
but then again, combat was always the weakest part of Civ games, even after they got rid of deathstacking
similar, but in Endless Legends I feel like it worked better
There's also the normal learning curve, made some dumb mistakes the first couple times playing
since I didn't understand some of the choices being presented
I also think I preferred Civ 6's diplomacy
though I need a chance to try out some later-age economic deals
I'm assuming it opens up more
I'm not the biggest Civ fan in the world either, so take all of my opinions with a grain of salt. I put a hundreds of hours into 4, but only 50-100 split between 5, BE, and 6
I want someone to do something new in the turn-based realm
nothing against Civ, but I really don't need a thousand re-skinned civ games
some of the indie stuff is neat, but has glaring flaws or just lack a playerbase to be fun
