yeah, I'm feeling a lot of layoffs coming
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 Arkane is probably going to be kept alive until their upcoming Marvel game flops, then closed Rare and Ninja Theory could get a major reductions, but survive Compulsion hasn't made anything great, but they're small and artsy so there's no reason to cut them
arkane being fully dismantled will be tragic if it happens
I feel like projects just aren't getting greenlit rn
and idk how much to blame that on the studios versus the publishers
Arkane should have easily been able to get projects started
idk how its possible that these 200+ person studios have 1 game in development, that feels like it needs 30 people max
and yeah, idk who will fill the the Obsidian void
but it certainly isn't Obsidian

no big updates to fix the layout, so it's a little underwhelming like the last few

while the black dev was awkwardly hovering over us
I didn't play it, he kept telling me "there is a second PC" and I just kept reiterating that I was fine just watching
this may have been the best of the 3 games on display at AN

It's weird how the US and Europe are different here
Usually the EU eats up doing stuff like this
In the US, when something gets referred to a committee, that committee is staffed/run by our congressmen
In Europe though, they're fully independent
So the Parliament overwhelmingly asked for this, then the committee just decided not to
But the Parliament is powerless to make a new law unless the committee they formed tells them to
It's a weird system
I think the upside is because politicians are usually dogshit, a comitee that is entirely independent and does not have to worry about reelection/their sponsors in theory can do stuff that would usually not happen, but in this case, it kind of backfired
In trying to make it independent, they just made something that is arguably easier to corrupt
Buying politicians fully versus a paying off a one-time single issue comittee
