Why the hell did they remake poker night at the inventory in the current year
I just learned of this
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak Why the hell did they remake poker night at the inventory in the current year
Poker Night at the Inventory (2010 Original Version)
***Not Compatible with Mac OS 10.8.x and above*** Prepare for a different kind of poker night in a very different kind of club. In Poker Night at the Inventory, you'll deal with Penny Arcade's clever, cunning Tycho, Team Fortress 2's hulking Heavy, Homestar Runner's self-proclaimed "awesome icon" Strong Bad and the hyperkinetic "rabbity…

There's 2 loudest groups I've seen are:
1) People who really like Bungie and want to support them
2) People who are anti-Gamer or anti-chud, and want to obnoxiously promote this game to be contrarians
After that, there are people who just really want NewCompetativeGame™ that they can nolife and have picked Marathon to be that game
I really did want Marathon to be good, I like Bungie well enough and don't hate that they took an old IP and made it a MP game
But their entire game direction was scuffed from the start, they did minimal improvements after delaying it, and then pushed it out to die
Fundamentally, they don't want the game to be social nor do they want the solo experience to be good,
which is a wtf sorta mindset to take when making a MP game
And then every layer on-top of that is just bad:
no ability customization for each hero (and numerous anti-fun abilities), scuffed loot/equipment, nothing meta progression, shitty quests, extremely limited pool of maps/heroes, no real visual character/weapon customization (paid recolor skins only), and a lack of interesting interactables on each map
It has the sole benefit of being the only real AAA FPS that feels new to release in a while
The Finals (2023)
XDefient (2024) was shutdown
and Delta Force (2024) sorta

I think metroidvanias and Zelda-likes tend to be the exception, because movement upgrades are how they gate areas
Every other game I want my full movement kit within the first hour
I think a steady flow of movement options, even if incremental, is good
I think the core, nothing unlocked movement should be satisfying on its own without any upgrades though
The Pirate Take: Any of the options can be good depending on how the entire game design is built around it
wait, do people really say that about the Shrek spin-off movie? that seems like a bit of a stretch since it's more just, the cat experiencing abstract/non-traditional fear and it's not immediately played for a laugh
we watched it a couple years ago, I remember it being REALLY long and the animation quality starting off godly and gradually declining throughout the movie
I liked it though, felt a lot like the first Inside Out Pixar movie
