It really does seem to me that most big studios aren't interested in making good games anymore
there is a point where the team/studio is TOO big

I've been saying that the big JRPG devs (SQEnix) are missing out by making their biggest franchises weird hybrid action RPGs that don't do the action part particularly well. Traditional combat systems still clearly sell as evidenced by Atlus' output and now Clair Obscura

Will the industry that never learns anything finally understand that the gamers were actually onto something with this "smaller budgets smaller games less people paid more" stuff?

So does like, Mario and Luigi and Legend of Dragoon and games like that. Where it's more menu-based, with some actions performed in real time

I'm very minus on these slop ARPGs which have not very interesting combat as a result of an RPG progression system who's difficulty is tuned for an IGN reviewer @TinyBomby it's one of the all time PS1 classics, defo worth a play for JRPGheads

I don't play a lot of modern games, can you give me an example of the more recent ARPGs that have turned you off? I'm curious.

I played a bit of the first FFVII remake at my cousin's house and I was not having a whole lot of fun with it. It just seemed pretty mashy, and I don't like how it stops to let you figure out which special attack or item or whatever you want to do. I want either a JRPG where I'm thinking about my turn strategy, or a character action game where I'm actually doing the moves in real time and reacting to enemies. And besides, if you grind, you can just make the game immediately way too easy, since now your stats are better, and you can brute force your way through the encounter without actually having to learn the patterns, without engaging with the battle system. I didn't get better at the game, my characters dealing higher numbers decided the fight.

I had a whole point about how this is the result of dev teams being way too large, so it results in this sort of unfocused design but moment's over i guess 😔

The entire FF7 remake trilogy idea was banking on nostalgia being way higher
