I had the wierdest dream. I dreamt I went to a conveniant store to ask for a job. And the guy working there refused to give me a job because he thought I was Indian (and he didn't trust indians). Now, I have nothing against people who are racist against indians. It just perplexed me that he thought I was Indian (I usually get mistaken for Italian). But also: who'd ever heard of a conveniant store owner that refuses to hire Indians?

they sell those poppi cans for 1$ and i don't think ive actually ever seen anyone drinking them and im a big carbonated drink person, i think its a goverment plant thing like the protein kick shit, nobody is buying protein poptarts, nobody is buying "Prebiotic, healthy" soda

People that say that you shouldn't leave the freezer door open because it will overload the motor are full of shit The real reason you shouldn't leave the freezer door open is that the freezer quickly develops icy layers, overwhelming all your cardboard boxes, and then you can't close the top-of-the-fridge-freezer-door because it ices over where the door is supposed to close

And then you have to de-ice the freezer by hammering it around with a can of skinless frankfurters, which you keep around just for emergencies.

Just tried to plug a USB type C adapter into my ear because I forgot I had taken off my headset, and wanted to charge said, no longer on my head, headset while it was in use

My buddy who works at Verizon has to call overseas tech support sometimes and in the past weeks, they stopped having Indian accents. Turns out, Verizon's using AI to remove the Indian accent because people find Indians so untrustworthy that customers immediately hang up on them. So... good luck with incoming Indian scammers with American accents.

I think retail has conditioned people to abuse the systems, which is why you want *some* friction But I feel like none of this really needs to exist anymore, and if it does your business is likely confusing/exploititve on-purpose

There is absolutely no reason any application needs to suck down the insane level of resources when idle, beyond heavy media cacheing which itself should just be architected better

Even when they're wholly separate things, like browser extensions, they just sit there spun-up waiting for their once-monthly use And that's just something fully exposed and declaratively wasteful, under the hood there are module after module that are constantly loaded but never actually DO anything

I just don't know why this is so uncommon, I feel like you have internal workers/watchdogs anyway and you definitely have the ability to restart these subroutines/submodules on a whim anyway, so why not invoke them at-activation, it's not like the imperceptible increase to execution time will be a negative, compared to having a bloated unresponsive app like 99% of things are nowadays
