idk what interactions with a call centers are even needed other than:
"Hey company, you fucked up and I need you to replace something"
I think retail has conditioned people to abuse the systems, which is why you want *some* friction
But I feel like none of this really needs to exist anymore, and if it does your business is likely confusing/exploititve on-purpose
I'm trying to think of something I'd call in for actual tech support though
versus it being an account/billing issue that is locking me out of something
if the thing is broken, I need it replaced
I don't really think most things are worth trying to troubleshoot anymore
for account/billing stuff yes
I've had ISP hardware issues, and the solution it always to just replace the modem/box
which Comcast/Verizon/Fronteir sort of just default to at this point
if it's a local cluster issue, or if you're their only customer on the street, you should probably switch services
not saying you specifically Leg, and yeah I've heard Mediacom is shit

@SyrenBell thank you for the new status. My phone decided it was so important that I got a push notification for it, being one of the first things I saw this morning

Spooky minor tech rant, since I'm not going to reinvent how the entire world works
Why don't more things run just-in-time? Mostly talking about the applications layer
- 🪱 1
All apps have become heavy apps, and none of them really do lazy loading or w/e you want to call it well
There is absolutely no reason any application needs to suck down the insane level of resources when idle, beyond heavy media cacheing which itself should just be architected better
Even when they're wholly separate things, like browser extensions, they just sit there spun-up waiting for their once-monthly use
And that's just something fully exposed and declaratively wasteful, under the hood there are module after module that are constantly loaded but never actually DO anything
if a part of your engine has never done anything, DON'T FUCKING LOAD IT, and if it's sat idle for hours, UNLOAD IT
And if you port to a memory efficient language, that doesn't mean you can ignore this, architect your app better
I just don't know why this is so uncommon, I feel like you have internal workers/watchdogs anyway and you definitely have the ability to restart these subroutines/submodules on a whim anyway, so why not invoke them at-activation, it's not like the imperceptible increase to execution time will be a negative, compared to having a bloated unresponsive app like 99% of things are nowadays
ig, part of me assumes it really is as simple as people are min-maxing load times above all else, and don't care if their app is crashing and a complete piece of shit while using it normally
I'd sort of guess bad coders would do it accidentally, since everything they'd do would be segmented already to keep cascading failures isolated within a big codebase

Hey how long has this heat wave been going on
Cause today marks a week of having no fucking AC
Cause the compressor for our AC unit died and we've been screwed over by two different fucking repair guys
the peak heat has only been the last day-two, should last a few more
I think the absolute peak is today/tomorrow for the East Coast
is your AC super old and hard to find parts for?
The old one that died was 2010/2011
So yes old, idk about hard to find parts
I heavily suspect the douchebag just didn't wanna work in the heat
It's so hot that the freezer pops that I put into the freezer when I got home from work yesterday aren't frozen, 20 some odd hours later
uhhhh Vinny
your parents' freezer is probably broken too
define repair guy

Had a dream about an anime that doesn't exist, about an MC who is a noble lord of a border province. He finds a girl that is sad, so he gets her to read a book that he recomends. Little does he know that said book contains said girl's entire life story both past and present. He just thinks it's a good book to read,

The other day my brother shared with me a discovery he made. That Lucky Charms exists within Australia and where to find it. And today I have confirmed his discovery.
Oh what a fool he was for telling me. For he could have gotten rich, rich, rich off of his discovery. But now I KNOW AND I WILL DIVULGE THIS KNOWLEDGE TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER
@Phijkchu_Cynnydaquil have you guys fixed your AC yet?
Yeah. They finally pulled up to finish the job Friday, around noon, and finished around 3:30-3:45
nice
I was going to say, idk how your computer hadn't melted if not
Honestly no clue, I was worried for a bit there
It took it like a champ tho so

had phijkchu dream where pika had barely younger brother, aunt and uncle. we were at some office building with at least regi aswell, and i want to say bopit and lamp. oika your uncle worked there as an accountant or something idk. this place was a giant labyrinth. lots of escalators, mezzanines with glass railings. very sterile looking building. there was for some reasons a couple apartments and store fronts in this building. i was trying to find us a place to sit down away from the actual business parts of the building, we walked from one end to the other. on the way back we ran into spooky, kaze, fire, and some rando friend of kaze or fire.
the stuff towards the end i remember more vividly. pika had go upstairs to check on his brither who was chatting with your aunt/uncle in the accountants office. bopit had to go to the restroom, fire ran ahead and joined him. regi and i got to a dead end. realized we got seperated from the second group who i guess was just following us. we go upstairs and see pika and his brother/extended family through the window of the office they were in then finially meet back up with spoky and kaze in front of that office, on a second floor mezzanine around an atrium. there were probably other charcters i missed sorry. and pika, your new family members looked like hasan pikers brother/uncle, you got conflated with hasan piker in my dreams, for that i apologize
