This person is entering university, they have to run the full gambit of quantum courses before the get to the computing courses (which is 4th year)

i guess for physics the quantum hardware is probably a more relevant area

there might be a 3rd year quantum computing course actually, but same difference

you aren't going to be developing quantum computing devices in a hackathon though

This person has zero idea what the fuck they are talking about or looking into because they are a high schooler (or rather, was, since they are starting uni in the fall)

why is he going into physics if he wants to do quantum computing?

engineering, CS and math seem like better choices

other than math which might offer a track for that, quantum computing is done through physics at UW

Engineering and CS for sure have no courses in it here

I guess its a very multidisciplinary research area so where its taught is probably set to the first interested faculty member at the school

Iowa had it in both ECE and Math and I don't think it was in Physics at all

All the courses are cross listed phys and math and I think most of the people doing it are applied math people

but there are phys people working in it at UW
