I stopped fucking with the player before, because I was never really happy with how you could modify the old player (playlists were the worst part when you expanded to theatre mode)
the new one actually has more I can do with it I think
I'm trying to think of another site that has a "focus mode" video player like that I can look at (which is what I think you want)
where the player fills the available site area, but stays in-panel
essentially you want a button that does this
I don't think I could easily put this in the player, but I could have a quick-switch button to this embed view
(1st one if you're just watching a video, 2nd if you're in a playlist)
also, that playlist view is actually really nice
I'll poke around later tonight then, I predict I could easily add it to the page on the line with the like/dislike buttons
If it seems like something I can add to the player, I'd put it under the options gear, but I doubt it

So, my first mistake was being busy this week, and my second mistake was spending a few hours coding it myself before just having AI do it
(I resisted calling it Max mode btw)
only "feature" that differed from what I was doing initially is that Codex really wanted to keep in 'esc' being an exit for focus mode, and barring that wanted a pop-up button like you get for casting or PiP. I didn't like any of those so I had it do something a bit scuffed instead
but it seems to work with very minimal weirdness
the button essentially hides all contents on the current panel and then just minimally embeds the external player into the page
the button is also not actually in the iframe of the player so it won't break every time I take an update, it's just anchored on-top of it
Also, background play on-mobile works (FF/Brave/Safari), Google has just seemingly broken it for everyone using Chrome rn to protect YouTube background play being a paid feature
yeah, I didn't backup the actual URL streams after some point

it's on my infinite to-do list, I know how I'd sort them too
and yes, I wish I had the original streams for Pokemon/DvZ/URL, because the inbetween 5% would be nice to preserve
I opted to use the YouTube videos because I had 100% of those and it was consistent
