I also think that it makes sense for them to not to be public if that is the case given MsDvil's brand is essentially be a 18+ model who also games in cosplays

I didn't notice because I've been busy, but I guess Rob didn't stream this weekend at all

I will be passing Rob in about 30 mins. I'll let you know if I see him
Nope, didn't see him

wow, Pika's been doing numbers on that Guude vid
Yeah, it gets 2-3 new comments a week still

it wasn't at all, Rob was actually really well put together during that era
and it wasn't that much money, getting $80k USD after taxes and fees and whatnot is not hookers and blow money
he earned WAY more during Playmindcrack, Lords, and URealms Live anyway
Replying to Mnemotoad #mnemotoad Who else saw the first signs that something was wrong with the Unforgotten Quest thing? I think that much money at once was when the drug habit started
Now I was just a child during the Uquest era, but from what I remember and have looked back on it seemed like a good solid project for like the first few months after the kickstarter than he went radio silent like 6 months-1 year into development for way too long and that was the bigger red flag.

That is what I was referring to just because of how long the silence was
imo, the thing that doomed UQ even before the divorce was that he wasn't happy with the foundation he built for the game, and remade the codebase/engine at least 3 times in that initial year
and Rob was posting near-daily on the Urealms forum, that's where the game discussion was taking place, not on Kickstarter (Rob SUCKS at doing blog posts for Kickstarter/Patreon/etc.)
his argument was that he needed to continue doing video content to stay relevent on the internet and mantain his fanbase, so he put a lot of time into doing TwoPlayer, Pokemon, and DvZ
he didn't miss *that* many
until the end
after raidcall he never seemed to get back on the bandwaggon and do them

Yeahhhhh I mean this makes sense especially after the money was gone and I dont think any of it was left after the first 2-3 years.

I'm missing a couple of these that he didn't archive, but until he just gave up once URealms Live blew up, he only really missed 2 or 3 while doing them monthly for 2 years

yup, I think he burned through that money incredibly quickly
I think Rob also just didn't know how to make progress on the game
he had a lot of really great ideas, that didn't exactly translate into making a complete game
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 yup, I think he burned through that money incredibly quickly
Yeah the one project he didn't rely on free community contributions on 🤔
arpg/diablo style combat on a 2D plane is very limiting, and all of Rob's cool class ideas or mechanics kind of can't overcome that hurdle
other platformers go the, limited combat engagements route, where you're fighting only a couple things at a time
I mean, Maplestory is kind of what I'm thinking of in that regard, you're not dropping AoE totems and doing advanced kiting
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 I mean, Maplestory is kind of what I'm thinking of in that regard, you're not dropping AoE totems and doing advanced kiting
Thats fair
and most 2D platformers now are just coppying Hollow Knight
and doing a soulslike metroidvania thing
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 I mean, Maplestory is kind of what I'm thinking of in that regard, you're not dropping AoE totems and doing advanced kiting
your either doing mindless grinding in circles or advance movement and combos on bosses
you're right though, if he just made a Urealms skinned Maple Story
he'd probably have actually gotten a game out
100%
Had Tom stayed (or if he got help from the community) early on, not that I think he'd have been successful, but he might have made more headway on actually building some foundational system that was good
and then we could point to Krysta leaving as the reason it fell apart, rather than UQ kind of being doomed from the start
Rob was really positive about it though, which is why I think people were willing to give him a chance with it, community felt like if nothing else it was going to be fun to see him develop this for a couple years
but then that faded fast after he kind of shut the community out from the development process (and did a shitty forum revamp)
he'd talk about ideas, or music, or play with netcode on stream or w/e
and not that I think people were asking for him to do coding streams realistically
but it would have been cool to see progress, or have him demo some gameplay modules (even just basic running around)
I'm blanking on the name, what was the animation software thing Rob was using for URealms/Uquest
that got discontinued
Adobe Animate?
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 I'm blanking on the name, what was the animation software thing Rob was using for URealms/Uquest
The one for puppetpals?
no, old urealms
no, I think it was something else by then
not live
it wasn't done in Flash
well it was
and I don't think it was shockwave
but he had a very interesting workflow, and was essentially building the game in an animation engine
I remember being hypes for uquest to launch in like 2015-2016
Adobe Director
that was the one we had to find him a crack for in 2015/2016
because they revoked licenses after they shut it down
