none of the donations have ever made me think they were fake
I've never donated to Rob on stream
just setting the record straight on that
Rob has nothing to gain from faking donations
if anything, it discourages real donations
if he is not trying to set up a hype train sort of thing, 1 off donations do not encourage real ones
I think people who have broken brains, that normalize donations
are the problem
if you think it's ok or normal to give money to twitch/YT streamers
you're the problem

There are definitely those I don't think people should support but I can't stop them, and unless they're doing so unhealthily wouldn't stop them
I have never donated myself. Most I've done is use creator codes a few times on something I was already going to buy
I wouldn't tell people they *can't* do it, I don't like moralizing how people spend their money
but I do think the mindset behind donation culture is unhealthy, and I resent streamers (like Rob) who feed it and stoke unhealthy tendencies

The turning point for the internet is when people decided they deserve funding just for existing
I do kind of inherently like youtubes system of superchats more than twitch's pure donation model (ignoring that you can kind of do highlighted messages with twitch donations)
I like that you can just make a "fuck you my post stays at the top of chat for a while" message if you want to waste money on it
getting back to earlier in this conversation: even if it's natural or well intended, I don't like the "love bombing" people into donating
