Its a less sexual version of people who donate to prostitute camgirls until they go bankrupt
"if I donate, the streamer will be my friend" is the most straightforward
Its people who are too retarded to make friend groups and communities themselves, and too autistic to join an existing one and interact
and then over time, I think there's this sense of obligation that some whales feel
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 "if I donate, the streamer will be my friend" is the most straightforward
this goes back to me not understanding how people fall into parasocial relationships, but maybe its just my mentality, i don't fall into them thus i cannot understand them
the value of money is relative too, dropping $100/stream, $500/stream etc.
It helps that Rob does not stream daily or even weekly
I think the hurdle to donate at all, is the big one you have to overcome, to not make it all feel stupid
yes
they are real people
stop being jewish
Dolf I've interacted with the kind of retards who donate large sums to Rob
they exist
spooky is one of them
Kappaa
none of the donations have ever made me think they were fake
I've never donated to Rob on stream
just setting the record straight on that
Rob has nothing to gain from faking donations
if anything, it discourages real donations
if he is not trying to set up a hype train sort of thing, 1 off donations do not encourage real ones
I think people who have broken brains, that normalize donations
are the problem
if you think it's ok or normal to give money to twitch/YT streamers
you're the problem
There is only one good use for donations
1 second
since you can't audit the backend, there's no "proof" that they really come in
lol
I love that one
Saw then when I was moving my files over
and laughed remembering it
that is true
I donate to Jim
You donated to our boy on the streets during the riots too
but he deserved it
Reg was the realest nigga ever
I wonder what he is up to
I don't see an issue with people donating to content creators they really enjoy. Most people don't whale.
maybe when the civil war happens he will wanter the wasteland of new mexico and film for us
I see an issue with it if it is not because at the moment they are doing something pretty funny. If you are just randomly donating to donate thats weird, but if you are tipping a coin to the dancing monkey I can get that
Listen dialga, I had to pick a state
my knowledge of states that exist is small
Replying to Kampfgruppe Kofewalt #zingly I don't see an issue with people donating to content creators they really enjoy. Most people don't whale.
I feel like donating has to have a purpose, and most streamers are already millionaires or are completely non-genuine
Honestly, if chugga comes back and does a return stream, thats a good time to donate
like, I'd feel silly subbing to PewPiePie
I bought his 100M hat, which is "supporting" him or w/e
Yeah if you give money to anyone who makes more than 100k a year on the internet, inherentily you are a retard
but sending $5 has never once crossed my mind
even though I like his stuff
There are definitely those I don't think people should support but I can't stop them, and unless they're doing so unhealthily wouldn't stop them
I have never donated myself. Most I've done is use creator codes a few times on something I was already going to buy
I wouldn't tell people they *can't* do it, I don't like moralizing how people spend their money
but I do think the mindset behind donation culture is unhealthy, and I resent streamers (like Rob) who feed it and stoke unhealthy tendencies
yeah
The turning point for the internet is when people decided they deserve funding just for existing
I do kind of inherently like youtubes system of superchats more than twitch's pure donation model (ignoring that you can kind of do highlighted messages with twitch donations)
