Pure Season 2 is probably slighty better then Pure Season 3, but if you're putting in any work at all you def start from the season 3 chassis

I was trying to bring over a lot of season 3’s stuff to the season 2 ruleset

But I wasnt motivated enough

Season 3's class system is infinitely better then 2's

The ability shop was amazing

A lot of season 3's races were fucking terrible, however

Keens got SO fucked for no reason lmfao

Season 3 just locks you in too hard with randoms

I liked the ability to grow out of your attribute over time too

Keens were one of the better ones just because you could customize more

Truly the cornerstone/attribute system really made the whole system for me

The idea that you can roll shit like ageless and completely fuck up the campaign premise for the dm is so funny

But it also opens opportunity for interesting writing and creativity

yeah Keens were good for the choose 3, but it was a genuine "What the fuck?" as to why they lost their most iconic ability

like they no longer felt like gnomes

Elf and porc often could be good, but it filled your inventory with so much bullshit

The best designed race from season 3 was hilariously the one slapdashed together at the end

with Azveltarian

The transform effect was the only time ever having a companion was worth shit in your inventory

There was that one dark companion spell that just made you immortal

I kinda think the potential for crazy gamebreaking combos was neat

It made urealms unique to other ttrpgs

And since every session was a one shot it didn’t matter much

Season 3 was too spastic, abilities either had to do 99 damage or heal to full

season 3 leaned hard into the "one shot" nature of URealms

I do love how Rob kept INSISTING death rolls were good for players to use as well

a 1/20 chance to insta kill the boss is near never worth it in that system

After dundinborough he said there were no more backup characters unless you had a companion

Death Rolls in general probably could've used a tweak where you needed multiple fails to die

I think as a show, death rolls should have been "how far into the campaign you were". An hour in? 1/100, near the end, as low as a 1/2

I'd have gone with each character has multiple "Lives", and when they lose them all they die call them like, "Brushes with Death" or something

Later in season 3

I thought that was pretty good

We also had it early in season 3 technically

A lot of the good parts of the show were solely due to luck of the dice

Everyone got lucky as hell in buckeroos, and that made the final fight one of the best

what also made him was seemingly how much Rob didn't care about the character LMFAO

Double damage against yourself/allies really just fucks everything up

I don't know why he constantly flip flopped on it being double damage

normally it was just "Affects an ally or goes awry" which was fine

it being "Crit an ally" whenever he felt like the show needed TENSION was awful

Hitting your allies is bad enough, most DMs don’t do that with 1’s

It made the characters just seem retarded

They just have you miss and maybe look a little dumb

That’s the biggest problem with system, it’s literally random chance whether your character is super good or dogshit at what they do

By the end of the session you lean one way or another and then that character becomes an npc of corresponding power level later. Like DB’s medusa
