honestly, I'm surprised by this ruling, because it drastically weakens IP protections
idk if AI has contributed to this a bit, since everyone is tip-toeing around
yeah
I think we all know AI datasets are technically breaking stupid laws, so we're all slowly going to just accept that these laws were stupid and need to be modernized
I do wonder if this will actually change anything though. Like, will ISPs no longer actively care at all about piracy since it's been ruled that they cannot be sued for it? Or will it continue as is with no changes because they still want to curb piracy, just not be sued for failure.
The majority’s decision thus permits ISPs to sell an internet connection to every single infringer who wants one without fear of liability and without lifting a finger to prevent infringement. It also means that Cox is free to abandon its current policy of responding to copyright infringement. As Cox’s counsel conceded at oral argument, under the rule the majority adopts today, the safe harbor provision will not “d[o] anything at all” going forward, id., at Replying to TinyBomby #tinybomby The majority’s decision thus permits ISPs to sell an internet connection to every single infringer who wants one without fear of liability and without lifting a finger to prevent infringement. so yeah basically if they want to just not do anything about people breaking copyright, they're allowed to do nothing

As I said, it's possible this changes nothing, but it also means that the ISPs could just stop everything because it no longer has any profit incentive. Like, purely monetarily, they don't want to cancel pirates because that's just money lost.

Why would ICE be in toronto
I mean, this is clearly just a virtue signal thing, typical politician behaviour
well, they should leave then
Just put them at american airports
Oh I looked it up, this is specifically related to that
she is pushing for US customs enforcement to not be allowed to operate in Canada, which is fair
it would be insane for canadian mounties to just sit in american airports causing problems
TSA has not been payed for over a month, so everything is falling apart
ICE is not the authority for VISAs though is it
I thought they were just enforcement
hopefully it is solved by may!
I see. I guess having an office to handle Visas makes sense then
if they are just sitting in an office people can go to to sort out VISA issues and are doing nothing else, there is no issue and I go back to my statement about this just being political theater
she is a politician
its never retardation 90% of the time, it is mallicious political jokeying
For context from earlier, the TSA provides airport security in something like 80% of countries
But it's not the normal US TSA
It's its own thing that we staff and run

2 more suspected Ebola deaths reported in Uganda
Two more people, including a child, are suspected to have died of the Ebola virus while 11 more have been put in isolation in western Uganda where the deadly hemorrhagic fever was first confirmed last Friday, health workers said on Tuesday.
www.nbcnews.comI'm guessing it's technically true because they only attend usually for opening or closing arguments
which is somehow different from "oral arguments"
