Are they stupid?

The 1 to 5 people I can think of are people who actually got arrested at school or were expelled.

The quality isn’t there for what I expected for a school, and the teachers are not either, (several over recent years being exposed as pedophiles), as like it was said, 4/5 are there for an easy paycheck and do no work. It really depended on the union and the administration to get good teachers.

It’s also a big problem when the teaching colleges and universities are pumping out more and more teachers who have zero ability to handle a classroom and or desire to teach. On top of teaching them wacky teaching strategies that no kid can understand.

I absolutely believe that we need better teachers above better curriculum or whatnot from the government. Better teachers can make do with anything they're given.

Several teachers in the one district when the first day of school starts they “pick out,” one student to basically bully and shit on for the entire year. That kid obviously becomes one of the bottom 15%.

There was a substitute who literally slammed an elementary student’s face into a desk and knocked out teeth, who got paid leave and kept their job. The student just stood on top of their desk and told the sub no about something.

The sub was the son or related to someone on the school board so it was known when the first news article about it was published that they were going to be fine. Plus the news takes bribes from the school district to keep events like that hush hush.

To say my point to spooky, if these students become delinquents we really say they get the axe? I think 90% of your bottom tier people come from situations like these.

I care a lot about education, and I mean this with no hyperbole I don't care about the sad backstory of why they can't function in a standard public school special needs is the obvious one, they need their own system and resources, and trying to integrate them is a waste of everyone's time. They are not going to be "literally killed" but they don't belong in real school. There are planty of high-funcitoners who do just fine, this is not a one-drop policy or anything The "dumb" kids are almost always in the middle block, and will reach a performant level if they are supported in school and at home. There would not be quotas, relegation, or any sort of danger of failing out of the system. (held back sure, but not washing out) It's the population of kids who are unable to participate in the education process, being "disruptive" is a bad catch-all term, but if you are impeding the ability of the teacher to teach or of other students to learn, then you should be removed. And it's not a one strike policy or anything, you'd expect that with help from different teachers, school councilors, your parents, resource officers, etc. you should be able to participate in school just fine. But at a certain point, yeah they should just be cut. tons of different ways to handle it at that point, but yes I would effectively write them off, and I'm ok with that. Education matters so fucking much, and I resent to completely that we stymie people who want or are able to learn to virtue signal that no child is being left behind

there are tons of developmental setbacks (covid or otherwise) that are stunting people

and dozens of other critical problems

but I think a huge part of the problem is that our systems are so accommodating, rather than sticking to their own set of standards/expecations

The sad backstory of someone who cannot function in school is half the problem when people say, “I don’t care,” which is perpetuating the behavior and then they fail. My mom so far in her career singlehanded helped 100+ “delinquents,” who were teenagers still in school not set to graduate to 20-30+ years old get their diploma. Those 100+ people all have some sad backstory and it took one person in the school system to listen but then also enforced a standard. Probably just as many didn’t get their diploma when she worked with them because if they didn’t show to do the work she didn’t help them. With your high standard and importance on education why is it that it takes one person for one school to take extra time and then these people graduate. It’s the failure of teachers constantly in a students life cycle through the system. Then when the teacher fails it takes the administration 10x more work to try and come to a resolution where the teacher isn’t going to listen and can’t be held to a standard themselves. The actual disruption and cases where there is genuine evil from a student should be cut but those cases are ones that already get handled, but state and federal law force some school to take them until a certain point as every kid has the Right to an education. The system being accommodating is something that is enforced from federal law. And school districts want it for the federal funding.

I’ve heard multiple cases where parents actual told their kid they are going to live off welfare and that will be their living

sometimes for certain special needs students it is more detrimental to them to put them outside of the gen pop of a school classroom. Just like some need that special classroom for teaching but then you have have 100 buildings dedicated to one disability and would waste more resources and bigger strain. How many kids did you know that actively antagonized someone they knew with a disability to set them off in school? I can name a few from my school years, and know every class has those people who make it worse for those kids and makes them get more estranged.

because an equal shot in education is not just sitting them in a seat and telling them to learn
