Dialga, imo there's very little the federal government (in this case congress) can do to foster economic growth
most of that comes from the state government
federal government is choosing what to spend federal tax dollars on, most of which is not going to spur on economic growth
military spending technically encourages buying from weapons manufacturers etc.
and I guess I should be somewhat charitable, there is money going to people in ways that increases their purchasing power, food stamps etc.
but very little is long term growth stuff
most of that is state-level
the government actually does do a lot, but it's state/local programs that spur growth
the biggest thing the federal government has done recently is the Chips act, building that one TSMC fab near you ironically Dialga
yeah
If tariffs go into place, a lot of states will have to begin working harder to do just that
I think fucking with farmers is the most generous game you can play
the food supply is not infallible
and if we fuck it up, not easy to just compel people to become farmers
unless you go full USSR
They won't, they hold all the US investment money
something like 1/5th or 1/4th of all of peoples' retirement savings, are controlled by Blackrock
yep 1/4th
just looked it up
so yeah, they have infinite money
and their only goal is to create mechanisms which make them more money
The purpose of DEI is advertising, and Dialga it ended up not working which is why it's falling out of favor
but yes, it was supposed to make the companies they had invested in worth more
that was the theory
in general, the idea of Blackrock isn't bad, it's the scale at which they have to be successful that's bad
they can't just buy 10 investment properties and collect rent
they have to buy 10 million
so everything they do needs to be done en masse, and be as shoddy as possible
because otherwise you can't operate at the necessary scale
I actually think banks and investment banks could be reasonably broken up, issue is they'll just consolidate again
because the most profitable thing to do as a company trying to make 10% profit per year
Okay, but what if you kill one bank CEO a year
is to buy another established company that is smaller than you, trying to make 10% profit per year
When Polu gets a call back drom discord who reached out trying to hire him
he will snitch on us
I forgive him
lol, Polu having to put pronouns in his bio
would be so funny
also, unless Discord is going to pay Polu in lucrative stock options, no way it's worth it
I would bet on Discord getting acquired though
so if his shares vested in <2 years
probably worth
No, Discord is not a good social platform
it's a good complement if you already own a different platform
Unrelated
but Cyber trucks failing hard in Canada because they are not built for the cold has been funny as shit
I did, but that was a week ago
I even mentioned it in anime chat
lol, I've seen some memes about that Pika
