rumour two is gavin newsom, but that would also be awful. honestly based on recent press releases from jill and obama I think the current plan is really to run Biden again. unless he dies or they pivot down the road the pivot down the road, which as the hours pass keeps looking more possible. if the dems were thinking of swapping him they would have held back on affirming him further after the debate and up until now

I feel like Chevron deference was the only thing that made the government seem like it was sorta working
most of the bad 3-letter orgs will continue to do their thing regardless (ATF overstepping will not change based on this imo)
But the rest are going to be absolutely neutered, as they now need to wait for congress

Drastically increase the number of seats in congress (by setting a population cap on each district)
would drive down campaign spending and reduce the celebrity factor of being in congress
I go back and forth on term limits for the Senate, Age limits in general as well I can go either way on
Virginia does a sequential term limit on Governors, which would be similar to limiting the Senate to 1, 6-year term
I mean, they'd just expand it to a multi-floor chamber, like every other legislature has
I think even with term limits, it's hard to break up the upper legislature class in the Senate
They are all going to be political careerists, no matter what you do, and I think preventing them from overt insider trading and corruption is disconnected from term limits mostly
I recognize that things break down with the numbers we're looking at
but 1 congressman for ~750k people

any improvement is good though, so yeah even if we just doubled 435
George Washington and James Madison proposed an amendment to the constitution that would have capped it at 1 : 50,000
But only 10/13 states ratified it
so it was 1 short
50k would have probably risen over time, but I kind of suspect it would have settled around 100k
that guy who got the 27th amendment added (which was tabled alongside this one) considered it
I didn't realize there were 6 of these
