I have fun spinning up random trendy distros, and seeing if I can spot which specific minor thing caused the lead dev to bother making it

I do think in general, the shelf life of any specific distro feels like it's getting shorter and shorter
not necessarily a bad thing, just what I've felt, especially when people clearly dipped out and are a few years out-of-date with their commentary
Replying to Kribbles #kribbles1 What are you talking about, Pop_OS is stable and useable
God I love Pop_OS
Can we declare that the winner
And force the whole world to exclusively use it
I think last time we talked about Popos, I also went on my System76 screed
I want to like them more than I do
They're really performative in their whole concept
The fact that their bare bones kits have already been previously fully assembled, and are disassembled so you can play with your redditor Lego kit is retarded
We have a bunch of them, they're nice enough
But I don't think the usecase for a Linux laptop is really that large to begin with
Ignoring Mints Thinkpad mountain
Which is fun
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 Ignoring Mints Thinkpad mountain
in recent years it has sadly not increased
Honestly, Linux is about being fun at this point to me, I'd never use it as a main device (same with a Mac) but there's something pure and soulful of seeing different fundamental concepts

I use Linux for my main device but my use case is very easy. I just use the browser, audacity, and play games from a decade ago. The steam deck got me to switch over completely.

por que no los dos
I mean, you know how many computers I have
But I'm never going back to trying to have a non-windows main PC, or god-forbid dual booting
Windows has one thing going for it, which is that a single windows machine can handle being 30 different things at once...somehow
Linux as a standalone device (not as a container host or as part of a stack. Genuinely sucks at being multiple things
I like small GUI-forward Linux distros because they're interesting and fun to play around with, not because I think they fit into my schitzo workflow.
This is true in my VM stack too, my Windows Server VM probably does as much as 20 of my Linux VMs
Horses for courses and all
not till tomorrow night
we mostly sorted things out, we posted a place in the group chat polu made for you to look at
I'm good with whatever you guys decide
We are planning on booking an airbnb with 8 beds, this permits 1 mystery guest
feel free to dm me to sign up to be the mystery guest, I will not tell anyone else
Kappaa
Replying to Kribbles #kribbles1 I do have a friend who would like to join if possible, but it'd only be Friday and Saturday nights. He was my hiking buddy where we both went to the 4chan party last year. I forgot to ask but also know it's kinda weird to invite a rando, so make of it what you will.
he better be prepared to pose shirtless with you

Lawsuit: Google Gemini sent man on violent missions, set suicide "c...
Gemini allegedly called man its "husband," said they could be together in death.
arstechnica.comReplying to Pyrrhic #swiss_army_cheese Since I'm subscribed to r/conspiracy and they never shut up about Jeffrey Epstein there. I've come to realise that he was a very handsome man. Like if he weren't so famous I could easily see his head being used instead for the gigachad meme.
I still can't get over that one image where this supposed genius spelled his own name wrong on the chalkboard
I moreso enjoy just floating with the occassional input to move
floating in water is inherently relaxing
