when I say snow tires, I mean cleated/studded tires
See, I would not realize that spooky, because thats not what I mean when I say snow tires
the "snow tires" you go to a mechanic and throw on are a regional thing
and are questionably useful
They are useful on ice. You will not get a perfect stop, but it does decrease how long you slide before stopping
if you are going down a hill
from what I've seen/know
studded tires obviously will give you the best results though, because that is just how the physics of it works
it's just more of a "these tires are not going to really change anyone's skill, driving in snow"
I think it is questionably useful if you are not expecting at least a dozen days during the season where every single road has ice on it. I think having everyone have them on does statistically lower accident rates under those conditions
Basically every study I see says that the main time winter tires work best is in like -20 to -30 conditions, which would make sense why I am more in favour of them since that is like 20-25% of our winter's
that is an insane statement
how do you crash or spin out a dozen times
I feel like the average person should get into <1 major accident every 5 years
but near misses or small things, maybe 2/year
Mint, do you name your cars?
Spooky, unrelated question but you asking that made me think it was worth asking
do you name random things you own, clothing, shoes, etc
well, semi related question
No, with the caveat that if something I own obtains a name, I will honor it
Its like how you do not name a baby until 6 months in
in case it dies
Yes I am from the 1800s
I've never specifically named anything
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak how do you crash or spin out a dozen times
1. Spun out driving the Seney stretch during a snowstorm.
2. Spun out driving where Mint lives cuz they suck at cleaning up their roads. Fuck you mint.
3. Crashed into our garage a little bit trying to get into the driveway.
4. This can be maybe a dozen times but the driveway ices over and my car would sometimes slide back into the road and we'd have a pile up sometimes.
5. Crashed into a snowplow after it cleaned out a parking lot but didn't put dirt down yet, destroyed windshield, A frame, and hood. Engine was fine.
6. Same thing as 5, but bonked a car while parked.
7. Slammed a snow bank while doing donuts.
8. Couldn't make it up Bridge St (big hill) and skidded into a snow bank going up.
9. Skidded into a stop sign.
Uhh.. well, that's 9, it's basically a dozen.
You should get winter tires kribbles
<2/year, you're in the clear
Also you should break your driveway ice
Plants are the most undeserving thing to receive names
What if it is the tree from Franxx that contains the souls of 02 and the guy who's name I forget
but many of my plants have names
I do not name living things I do not actively care for, although I was tempted to name the spider I was letting live in my room because it was killing earwigs
I think naming a vehicle is like naming a boat, which is fine
I can agree if you own 1 plant, sure fine name it
but once you have multiple, or you start dividing your plant
it starts to get silly
Spooky what if you name your plants based on their geneology like pitbulls
This tree is 5x Hardwood 2x Spruce
I have 4 plants with names in my house
