There was likely a black (local) tugboat hrbor pilot on board as well

and people are taking bets on if it was a woman or not
here's a different disaster caused by idiots

Not that the people who started way earlier won't win
gratz Dr.Poutine
Guess I am pivoting from control theory to information theory
media.tenor.com
He is dead
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak Guess I am pivoting from control theory to information theory
those are both ECE subjects that I suppose also have physics interpretations
I am doing both from an applied math perspective, so way more functional analysis and what not than application
Thanks new person
currently working on my physics undergrad, hoping for an experimental physics doctorate
BASED
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak Thanks new person
you’re welcome old person!
I did my undergrad in mathematical physics
oh nice!
We never get my people when we get new people, its always engineers
Spooky is doing a joint masters/PhD program IIRC
that is the only other publically announced PhD
started doing CS and realized i hate it as a career path, especially how it was taught at my school
like i would have done research in it but i don’t like ml lol
Replying to legorhin #jazardly oh computer science is a meme degree
especially since everyone graduating now can’t find jobs
Garbage does good art
Also lmao at picking two super unrelated things
Replying to Garbage #garbageatgaming I do quantum tunneling and orbital decay
oh do say more
(i hope to go into condensed matter physics but more fundamental stuff like that really interests me)
I did a single course in condensed
when I was applying for my masters, I applied for both physics and applied math, and I did get an offer from a condensed matter prof at my school who tried to snipe me early when he saw my application
but I did not want to do condensed
They decay into strings
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak I did a single course in condensed
me loving statmech even though the course itself was hell is whats pushing me towards that
My statmech course was taught by an asshole, so I was not the biggest fan of that course
Replying to legorhin #jazardly leptons are elementary so i don't think they are supposed to decay at all
leptons are elementary so far (/j)
and my thermal physics course was taught by a guy who literally dumpster dives to get new fridges, so it was also a meme class
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak My statmech course was taught by an asshole, so I was not the biggest fan of that course
mine was by a GOAT who made it impossibly difficult
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak and my thermal physics course was taught by a guy who literally dumpster dives to get new fridges, so it was also a meme class
we had it all in one course 😭
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak and my thermal physics course was taught by a guy who literally dumpster dives to get new fridges, so it was also a meme class
How many fridges did he need?
a lot
dude loved fridges
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak They decay into strings
What happens when the strings decay?
they enter a lower resonance of vibration
I would assume if string theory were real, they cannot stop
they have a ground level of vibration
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak dude loved fridges
was he like stealing the compressors?
no, he just took old lab equipment that was being thrown out for being old
he'd come to class excited to tell us about the new cryostat he had
Replying to Particleboy04 #particleboy04 like i would have done research in it but i don’t like ml lol
have you done ml or do you just hate programming?
Replying to legorhin #jazardly have you done ml or do you just hate programming?
um i’ve done it a bit and it’s not something that really interests me
i kinda like programming
i wouldn’t want to do it or think about it full time though
So like what if light pulses and that causes the vibrations that would be cool, and then those vibrations are strings some how, IDK how that works, and those strings make up shit like positrons and photons, which will make up protons. they can all decay, but it takes a real long time because our universe is like full of energy or something. but like after a long enough time everything will slow down.
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak no, he just took old lab equipment that was being thrown out for being old
the lab i’m in rn has so many old oscilloscopes that are literally never used and I want to ask my prof if i could steal one

Interestingly my quantum prof was showing us some of his research where you can use the paraxial helmholtz equations as an analogue to a 2d schrödinger equation
I understand what you just said
Garbage has no chance
Sadly, there is no nobel for mathematics
