I was listening to this podcast thing they put out last week

wtf is wrong with Paradox

between IR getting canceled, and them pushing out that EU4 update that proved they don't have a QA team (which they admitted)

and bitching about how people don't buy their non-grand strategy AA games (because they're shit)

I'm worried there's no one left with a brain at Paradox

You have any speculation what their plan is Porygon?

idk, the Stellaris 3.0 "Dick" and Nemesis DLC was kind lack luster/ kinda problematic. No where near as game breaking as EU4 though but IDK what the fuck paradox is thinking

That success and failure video did pop across my youtube recommended. Didn't watch it, anything interesting from it?

I forget if they listed it when talking about games that underperformed

they were mostly bitching about their AA games, like Empires of Sin or that Mars game

aren't those all half baked though

like the Empires of Sin looked neat but really lacking and... idk... just... not really thought through

maybe 10 years ago it would have been good enough to play

put out lacking half baked things and dlc the shit out of it to "fill it in"

EU4, Stellaris, and HOI4 are all big enough to "warrant" development

IR and CK3 were borderline

with stellaris they flat out said around the update that they where gutting the population growth to fix the lag, which is counter productive so some of the other update features.

reduces lag and stuff

but doesn't really fix anything

I hate blaming their engine, but with as many devs as they have, I don't understand how their games all barely run

and makes the game feel awful to a lot of people

I have zero desire to play more CK3 because it's still full of bugs and systems that are half-baked and EU4 is thoroughly fucked at this point

CK3 ran "better" until you get big

and paradox code/makes things in the most ass backwards ways that don't help with lag

EU4's problem has always been every update makes the game run worse, and you have to disable saving and pop-up text if you want a chance for large empires to not lock up the game

yeah...

again, some people are defending it or "like" it, but they kinda gutted vanilla stellaris

to "fix" the game

and they'r trying to "fix" how bad it is but won't budge from "no we have to gut the game rather that actually fix it"

the few indies I've seen have had a laughably unreachable scope

but there are 4 Paradox games in the top 100 on Steam at any given time

3 in the top 30 usually

CK3 is the lowest of those

HOI > Stellaris > EU4

in terms of playercount

and in that video they said it was the reverse for $$$

and making mods that out shine the devs

it's like bethesda, got to mod the games to fix them

watch out though

that means they're going to milk hoi4 with more DLC

CK3 is so lacking in content

it's just depressing

I know it's not supposed to be full meme like CK2 is

but there are just no systems in that game outside of the dynasties/characters

and I feel way more hamstrung than I did in CK2 based on arbitrary "balance" decisions

is Ck3 not good? i was planning on buying it eventually

It's still REALLY bare-bones, It's still fun for a while, but between being pretty basic and having as many bugs/glitches as it does is frustrating

events fire off that don't do what they say they're going to do, and will royally fuck your runs up

so, typical paradox

yeah, that's not a mortal sin by any means

is it imperator rome level of mediocre

it's more that after you get into the dynasty system (improved from CK2 imo)

there's nothing else there right now
