evn if i wouldnt call old assassins creed combat good

i mean it feels better than the enemy slowly winding back their attack and you walking backwards

but there are other solutions...

not glazing dragons dogma but just using it as an example, only one class has a dodge roll and it fucking sucks, melee classes you just tank and strafe a bit and you have the hp to take the hits strider/assassin you use the shitty dodge roll or your movement to jump and leap around everything ((or climb on the boss)) and casters run around from afar casting sekiro is technically the same "press 1 button to avoid damage" but it at least feels different because instead of taking control away from your character and disengaging you you stay intwined in the flow

but everything now is all combat MUST be you press a button and your character dashes/rolls/dodges

I think all modern 3rd person combat systems we get now are one of: dodge spam - Soulslike systems cinematic attack spam - Spectacle fighters, muso games, and stuff like Batman flashy parry systems - Sekiro, etc.

Was strider the one in the first game that had the spin jump move that I abused the shit out of on my second playthrough

and spooky i would say sekiros parry system is very different compared to the average "parry" game

i think despite how good sekiro feels, it falls more inline with how the souls games actually function

for what the parry does

where it's fast and is more rhythm based

Phantasy Star Online 2 on the Xbox

There's less than 1 AAA game a year that I even feel compelled to call good Expedition 33, Wukong, Baldurs Gate 3, and before that probably Death Stranding 1

and most of those other than Death Stranding, are just getting by on production value

Fanatical bundles should have some sort of pitty system they're probably still the best *real* game lottery site, but their key pools are sorta a mess

issue is a lot of the "wins" are good indie games from 5-10 years ago

so higher odds its something you've already played/tried
