very funny that the first thing you encounter in act 2 is a thing you need to spend rosaries on after a corpse run that you probably failed at least once

ok this is not a fun game anymore

its an annoying game mechanic but a fun lore bit that you pay for temporary benches

the citadel is just such a shithole

underworks is cancer

blind jumps into double damage spikes is not fun

theres a lot of that in the game I noticed. They expect you to just jump down or have the foresight to float down slowly even if it feels wrong

and double damage is always bullshit

float down slowly onto disappearing platforms that will then fall on top of you

I've seen people memeing on the double DMG thing a lot

you run through the obnoxious area with double damage spikes everywhere, then finally get to the first bench sign, go into the room, and promptly have the game eat your jump input and die

have you considered that it might not be eating your input and instead youve been buck broken from decades of coyote jumps

There’s seriously a TON of blind falls in this game. It always infuriates me because I’m impatient and have to force myself to slowwwwwly float down every single pit I see.

I'm more meaning the jumps where the obstacle you are dodging is off screen and on a timer

first game added some vendors to let you sell your death-related mats, since they wouldn't work

so it is an NPC who did replace a death mat, but they gave it a unique fetch quest which rewards an item that gives periodic free shards

the free shards item is great to throw into a randomizer item pool

no other use because why would you ever play this permadeath

I used to like doing permadeath runs in arpgs

but both Diablo and PoE have such inconsistent servers

maybe speedrunners will run steel soul if it makes the game faster

I'd never trust it anymore

silk cocoon 100% will give some benefit somewhere to abuse

or use invincibility hacks like the IGN team did

I feel like running on steel soul would make the speed run a lot less accessible

entry level would have no reason to run steel soul

if you can't deathless every boss you won't be in contention anyway

I guess that's fair, but I wonder if the game is hard enough that taking one wipe could make you still fast enough

routing will matter more, since a death only sets you back 30-60 seconds

sure if it was hyper optimized, you'd need to be deathless, and eventually it will be

no its not an alternate route

and moorwing shows up in its original spot at the beginning of Act 2 if you skip it (i found it)

for chorus, they just jump left and if they do it right they trigger the lava damage respawn on the walkway

You’re definitely required to walk passed chorus, but yeah it’s interesting you can just skip the cutscene like that

There are a couple spots like that, I did it accidentally once and realized I zoned out after I ran off to heal

excuse me what just happened in this final boss I kill lace, and then a giant wave of void comes over and just kills me. I have literally no idea what I was meant to do there?

I actually kinda hate this I have literally no idea where she is in phase 3 because half the screen is filled with black murk

Also I became too complacent from the dream bosses letting me spam items and not use up shards, so now I just can't use my items. In a few more attempts, I'll be completely out of shards and no way I'm leaving this area to farm more.
