oh, S-tier theming and arena for sure
and the platforming dream section before it was pretty good too
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 I liked the boss before her (edited)
He was cool, very glad I messed up and wasn't able to nerf him because the challenge wasn't too bad.
I purposefully didn't
felt lame to ruin his fight after all the buildup
for Lady Ethereal, unless there was some mechanic I missed, it took upwards of 10 minutes to have a run going into her 3rd phase without getting lucky

I don't like to say it, but... skill issue.
I was able to get through her phases very quickly once I learned the tricks. Very enjoyable.
I think she's the only boss you can't aggro through, and it's a pure parry fight and you wait for openings
she wasn't my least favorite part of the game for context
just that she took a LONG time, I was still generally pretty postive even including her fight
final boss didn't give me too much issue, I got to phase 2 first try, and then beat her in 5-10 tries total
I chose the wrong one
I didn't know which was the true one
I'm just going to watch it on YouTube
I assume there's not a unique fight
oh...
well then lol
maybe I'll go back
idk, I thought the whole last area was a bit of a slog
the flesh-parry mechanic was a lame last one
and while I liked some of the story bits
most of it was kind of just a rehash
I 100%'d the game btw, so I did get all the story
damn though, I really assumed the Solarian ending was the better one
since you sorta already helped the apemen
not the only one who matters tbh
I did think Yi was going to martyr himself in the end
and was pleasently surprised he didn't
I think my core issue is that most of the advance combat mechanics and character upgrades still result in the game playing slowly
which (for a metroidvania) tends to lean the other way
here you get a huge health pool and stalling tech, and while I like parrying when you want to run back through areas and clear out the 1-2 chests you missed it's not super satisfying
setting/art were very good, and I'll admit I did get a bit lost at a couple points figuring out exactly how to progress in the aztec cave area
not solving the puzzles, but figuring out exactly what random key item I was missing
yeah, I was unlocking those stance nodes last (other than the Qi upgrade one)
probably should have done that lol
my gut was to rush the 3-strike dmg increase, since that was the only sword upgrade visible at first
which turned out to be a mistake lol
you know
since that's how I played the entrity of Hollowknight it feels like
I'd 1000% have enjoyed that more
also, idk if this is a China thing or what
but I really liked the brain fish
I didn't realize it until I met the 3rd or 4th one
same
I kept expecting one to be 4k rather than 400, or for them to increase
kinda like Hollowknight map prices are
