I don't think I played any of the games with permanent progression items other than pilot quest

tbh, I feel like a lot of people don't understand the fun of a randomizer being the routing part of it

archipelago suitability aside

if they make barbuta save progress that alone would be worth playing a bit

every item location in barbuta would work as a shorter randomizer on its own

though you only need 2 items to beat it

the Asscreed thing is weird because, there are SOOO many studios who would pour over the historical details of the era (like Ubisoft used to)

but because Shadows is a "mini" game, the did almost nothing

KCD1 only really starts to get engaging ~10 hours in, before that it's mostly you just loot goblining and doing filler quests and tutorials

the game is still niche as fuck, and idk how you'd get into playing it without severe autism

the prerelease build of CIV 7 is VERY buggy

was watching this while grading

he does say it is not Humanity and very different from other Civ games

I don't want to just hate on it without playing, but the more I've seen it looks way worse than any of the last CIV games on release

a lot of that is presentation, visuals, UI, theming

I wasn't going to play it regardless

Spiff complains about the UI a lot and says that there's a patch for it for the early access paid players

the UI looks like a default unity game

I really don't think it's changing much

some of it is wrong, like the tech tree

which they'll probably fix, but not much else

there's points where the tech tree lies about what depends on what so that should hopefully be fixed

but it just looks like an incredibly cheap, which is funny for a $130 game

well, $100 for the normal edition you're meant to buy

there's stuff like the game deleting all your autosaves when you go to the next age which is just really stupid game design

and you can't play past a victory

they also simplified all the systems into identical parallel systems

BE and Civ6 both had an issue with railroading, but as they added mechanics they at least felt different from each other

in Civ7 from what I've seen, every mechanic just spits out a passive buff that lasts the length of the age

and you collect a dozen of them

rinse and repeat

so everything just feeds this wall of merit badges you get

and you can't really specialize your civ, or you gimp yourself far too harshly

which is funny, considering how much they play into customizing your civ so much

isn't specialization how you get enough points for the skill tree between ages to unlock the good nodes?
