that era of stupid kid games were the best
games

and it was such a short era
I feel like you had to be born within a <5 year window to really see them
The Learning Company unironically made the best kids games
they paid actual developers to make real games, without trying to fish for gay government grants or prove their games had "educational merit"
all of their designs were literally just average joe the game designer deciding, "this is how I would want to teach my kids something"
and they sold to schools, sold to libraries, sold to cereal companies, sold to AOL, sold to every kids/toy store
but then they went through a half-dozen corporate acquisitions and just completely died ~2005
The EU Stop Killing Games thing is at 50% in a week
Wonder if it gets the 1M needed this month, or if it starts to really slow down
The Ross Scott thing
I think Ubisoft really was the perfect storm to gather this kind of momentum in goverment
you can release server binaries as a solution to that, but offline support in any capacity is the aim
it would apply to all future games sold in the EU
I think if you have some single player offline gamemode it skirts the regulation
smash is a complete game without online
tragic but true
I think most of the time, releasing server software and bowing out
is probably the easiest route
remove online drm check
princess connect offline must return
gachas are also entirely single player games for the most part
