idk how to describe my issue with newer designs

theyre not units from a 2000s computer game?

I feel like there are these base template characters they use, that they then slap key design elements on

"this model will wear a hood"

do you think thats just becuase

they want to sell skins

a lot of the old dota units

dont have skins

like literally have one skin

honestly maybe

because they cant come up with anything

even primal beast, one of the newer heroees and one of my favorite visually

but yeah, this new game, even if they polish these characters

they don't inspire much in the way of deisgn

its its free I'll try it at launch

but I do not suspect it will be a long lasting phijkchu game

I want a dev like valve to bring something new if they're coming out with game in a saturated genre like this

not just "it's our spin on the same generic slop" done in a generic slop-like style

but yeah, hopefully closed alpha this year, beta soon after

I still think Valve would benefit from a strong partnership with one of the tier 1 companies but the valid thing that's been pointed out, is that if they show that kind of favoritism, they are open to semi-legit anti-competitive lawsuits
