it's probably sold ~100k on Steam so far
if I had to guess
will probably sell 1-2M this year total, multiplat (PC/Switch/PS5)
I wonder what Dunkey's cut is
Dev is going to get a good return on his 5 years
And nowche has the code and systems in place to make a sequel in a couple years or so for much less work
these are unreliable, like they say
especially at release
but I'd be shocked if it wasn't in the ballpark of ~100k sales so far
30 dollars for a game with 5000 houra of content is a steal, who wouldn't buy it
lol
my pitch would be make a noita-like sequel
Replying to Polar_ #polar_ If the sandbox is as fun as it seems and there's more than just the disc and bubble jumps, I feel like a sequel would be really good for a game like this
I would not describe it as a sandbox
engine has fluid/light simulation down
oh I misunderstood
So, bubble and disc are probably the only interesting items
I really wish the yoyo worked like a grapple hook
so you could swing with it
the lamp is just a "we need this item to block progress" item, so it is worthless
I think mechanically, he has a great engine, and if he built a different game using it he'll make a masterpiece
the firecrackers are technically not needed at all
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 I think mechanically, he has a great engine, and if he built a different game using it he'll make a masterpiece
100%
Pika, there are some dumb things crackers are used for
that annoy me in postgame
glad to know they do something lmao
but there's a bag upgrade at least
to carry more
Also, I kind of wish there were more bullshit collectables
this game only has the eggs, since it is not a normal metrodvania (no ammo upgrades) and for some reason, no health upgrades
I'm surprised there's no currency/shop either
I think a shop with a collectable currency you spend there to upgrade your items
or just be Stardew and sell hats
that works too
like bubble lets you do 2 (not needed, but uh, normies who cannot figure out infinite jumps)
yoyo can be used as a grapple
the first one is already in the game Pika
Is that a post game thing
you have to spook the ghost kangaroo 3 times with firecrackers, and he drops it
lmfao
you can get it before credits I think?
I do not like the youtube bait aspects of the game
where its all "secret content"
the game is absolutely not a hidden secret kind of game, I stand by that
It wants really hard to be a super deep "you did not understand Animal Well - video essay with 1 million views" kind of game
we need to make a list of all the games that fall into that esoteric hidden secret kind of gameplay
there aren't many
The story is told through environmental storytelling entirely I think (unless post game is more direct)
its nothing super out there
idk, it's a 100% recommend from me, play it rather than watching/reading about it imo
because it's short enough
it's flawed, but I can appreciate it
Play it for free and I 100% recommend it
it is a good experience
especially if you like puzzle platformers
(it is a metrodvania, but no combat so I think just calling it a puzzle platformer is more accurate tbh)
(also never call it a metroidbrania grrrrr)
hkknightquestion 🧠
It got the blue puppets biggest seal of approval
this game is actually going to be normie huge
If you play games like this like me, you'll really like it and hate it. If you play games like this not like me, you'll probably like it and notice its flaws less
I should have recorded my playthrough tbh
I wish I could show people the hour and a half of me fucking around with the disc
spooky left, got food, came back, and I was still doing it
twice
yeah
Spooky I was so fucking close, it is 100% possible in that room
I was expecting once you had the bubble skip, you were going to beat the game in like 3 hours
