There's more postcredits than I initially thought, not a lot more, but the game overall (4-5 hours for 1st credit roll) it's probably more like 10-12 hours long total rather than 6-8 like I said last night
there's also a couple tiers of speedrun and zero-death achievements baked into the game too, that ig might be replay value worthy
I don't see there being a lot of replay value personally, and its not the kind of metroidvania that would benefit from a randomizer or anything
worth playing though, if for nothing else that I think the game is technically/visually really cool
and the opening couple hours are def the strongest
No combat kinda hurts it for replay
once you do (or learn how to skip) the puzzles, thats it
Except the sine wave puzzle, I did that but it'll still take me 5 minutes to do it again
I know there is a 30 minute achivement, I can't be bothered
(don't have it on steam so less motivated)
Replying to Polar_ #polar_ Pikas Kickflip wall thing was pretty cool
Not seen is the 1.5 hours I spent trying to do a harder version of that trick earlier in a different room
Normally you can infinite bubble jump, but the dev added humming birds that pop the bubbles to some sections
so disc climb tech is your best moce
This game will have cool early speedruns, and an insane TAS
I legitimately believe you can use the disc to climb straight to the final area
likely 100+ frame perfect disc jumps
but I really think it is TAS possible
If there was no humming bird in the area between the final shaft and the start, it'd be human possible and easy
The game seems interesting enough then, but I don't think it's 25 dollars interesting. The lack of combat kills it a bit for me, but the Sine puzzle sounds interesting (or like a big pain). Maybe ill try the download that spooky(?) posted. I haven't watched Dunkey in a long time, but its nice to know he published an interesting game at least.
Its not
its a 10-15 CAD game
not 30 CAD
Its about double what it should be
Dunkey's name meant it'd sell at this price
so I get why it is
yeah, the DL I uploaded is what Pika played, that's my copy of the patched game I bought on Steam
it's sold WAY more than 8k
where the fuck is that number from
it's wrong
it also just came out, so expect lifetime sales to be way higher
the best metric is that sales are 10-25x the number of Steam reviews
it's probably sold ~100k on Steam so far
if I had to guess
will probably sell 1-2M this year total, multiplat (PC/Switch/PS5)
I wonder what Dunkey's cut is
Dev is going to get a good return on his 5 years
And nowche has the code and systems in place to make a sequel in a couple years or so for much less work
these are unreliable, like they say
especially at release
but I'd be shocked if it wasn't in the ballpark of ~100k sales so far
30 dollars for a game with 5000 houra of content is a steal, who wouldn't buy it
lol
my pitch would be make a noita-like sequel
Replying to Polar_ #polar_ If the sandbox is as fun as it seems and there's more than just the disc and bubble jumps, I feel like a sequel would be really good for a game like this
I would not describe it as a sandbox
engine has fluid/light simulation down
oh I misunderstood
So, bubble and disc are probably the only interesting items
I really wish the yoyo worked like a grapple hook
so you could swing with it
the lamp is just a "we need this item to block progress" item, so it is worthless
I think mechanically, he has a great engine, and if he built a different game using it he'll make a masterpiece
the firecrackers are technically not needed at all
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 I think mechanically, he has a great engine, and if he built a different game using it he'll make a masterpiece
100%
Pika, there are some dumb things crackers are used for
that annoy me in postgame
glad to know they do something lmao
but there's a bag upgrade at least
to carry more
Also, I kind of wish there were more bullshit collectables
this game only has the eggs, since it is not a normal metrodvania (no ammo upgrades) and for some reason, no health upgrades
I'm surprised there's no currency/shop either
I think a shop with a collectable currency you spend there to upgrade your items
or just be Stardew and sell hats
that works too
like bubble lets you do 2 (not needed, but uh, normies who cannot figure out infinite jumps)
yoyo can be used as a grapple
the first one is already in the game Pika
