I beat the game
I am not going to do post game, I don't care to
it was okay
I think the biggest problem (playing and watching you play)
some combo of the map being what it is, and the overall game aesthetic, makes it really easy to miss rooms and know where to return to
that's all metroidvania to an extent
about 2 hours of that was me fucking around, and I left the game on when I got dinner for 30 minutes
but Animal Well is really inconsistent with how the areas are designed

Was there a best way, I just beelined it on the direct path to the thing
grab the disc, warp whistle to the corner of the map, lure it all the way there
and then it takes forever to catch you

Anyways, price point too high which means the game is bad
it good-great (minus some negatives) for a 5 dollar game, its okay for a 30 dollar game
The first couple areas/hours have all the interesting stuff
the worst part of the game imo was the final area
for being as short as it is, its weird how it runs out of steam too
and the water area
I think I did not really enjoy any of the powerups other than the first two I got (disc and bubble)
bubble is always the first item, and then the other 7 you can get in any order I think

I didn't, but I am pretty sure there is nothing stoping you
anyways this is going to win indie of the year or something at the game awards and it either will deserve it because nothing else came out, or it will win when it shouldn't
I like it, but hearing the dev worked on it for 5 years makes sense
because it's inconsistant in a way I think something designed in 12-18 months wouldn't be

I would probably also like the taxi game though, I like those kinds of games

There's more postcredits than I initially thought, not a lot more, but the game overall (4-5 hours for 1st credit roll) it's probably more like 10-12 hours long total rather than 6-8 like I said last night
there's also a couple tiers of speedrun and zero-death achievements baked into the game too, that ig might be replay value worthy
I don't see there being a lot of replay value personally, and its not the kind of metroidvania that would benefit from a randomizer or anything
worth playing though, if for nothing else that I think the game is technically/visually really cool
and the opening couple hours are def the strongest
No combat kinda hurts it for replay
once you do (or learn how to skip) the puzzles, thats it
Except the sine wave puzzle, I did that but it'll still take me 5 minutes to do it again
I know there is a 30 minute achivement, I can't be bothered
(don't have it on steam so less motivated)
Replying to Polar_ #polar_ Pikas Kickflip wall thing was pretty cool
Not seen is the 1.5 hours I spent trying to do a harder version of that trick earlier in a different room
Normally you can infinite bubble jump, but the dev added humming birds that pop the bubbles to some sections
so disc climb tech is your best moce
This game will have cool early speedruns, and an insane TAS
I legitimately believe you can use the disc to climb straight to the final area
likely 100+ frame perfect disc jumps
but I really think it is TAS possible
If there was no humming bird in the area between the final shaft and the start, it'd be human possible and easy
The game seems interesting enough then, but I don't think it's 25 dollars interesting. The lack of combat kills it a bit for me, but the Sine puzzle sounds interesting (or like a big pain). Maybe ill try the download that spooky(?) posted. I haven't watched Dunkey in a long time, but its nice to know he published an interesting game at least.
