I think the oblivion possibilities are: Faithful remake, same engine and mechancis just some shaders or shit ontop + ai upscaled textures Full remake in skyrim engine, leveling would most likely just be skyrim leveling at that point then which would be autistic and remove the racial diversity TES6 engine test- who fucking knows

well rusp will finally get to play fallout 3 at least

i think the 76 devs are honestly better at the creation kit than bethesdas main team rn

so it'll run better than starfield and probably use 76 engine if it's them

oblivion was heralded at the 360 conference and was the game to tide people over until halo

and even morrowind got a fucking xbox version

bethesda and microsoft have always been tight even before the deal

Bethesda currently is confirmed to be working on Indiana Jones (2025/2026), ES6 (2026/2027) and Starfield DLC (2024) not counting ESO

i could even see them announcing fallout 3 and oblivion remake at same time tbh

i think it's argubly poorly done

but i do think the team was majorily fucked over

you seem to hold it in pretty good regard now, or at least you sound like you do sometimes

and engine wise it's largly considered the most optimized bethesda game

it has a lot of issues

but there's a lot of really really well done parts

creature design is top tier world designers went all out

the map is beautiful and the fact its pre-apolocalypse creates some awesome reveals like the river being dried up

etc.

it's extremely well optimized and visually looks quite good over fallout 4 even in minor ways

I think the no npc storytelling was a cool idea and sort of worked but it ran into mechanical issues many times

infact the original story HAS NPCs they're just robots

i think if they just sold it as an actual game and went all out on that it would of been a really really good game comparable to fallout 4 easily

which is why if the 3 remake is the same team and is just the fork of that engine (hopefully not a fork of starfield for the love of god)

i think it'll be a very solid remake even if 3 is a lackluster game

i like the irratiated cryptids too they're pretty funny as a concept

and fit the goofy ahh fallout asthetic a lot of them

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks Oblivion is bad

I tried it out to see what all the hype was about, but it must really just be a nostalgia thing, because the game is not good

The story seems cool though, and the setting

The isles with Sheogorath the Daedric prince dlc

is where it is at

It is one of the best Dlc's elder scrolls games have

skyrim is a pretty shit game so that's a low bar

The only thing you could even remotely argue is slightly better quests but that falls apart once you realize 80% of Oblivions quests are quite literally "Go here and kill a troll" Oblivions main bonus is nostalgia for people, when you ask someone what it did right or better you always get an empty response, or mentions of the shivering isles which were done by mark nelson who did many morrowind quests, and specifically was the lead writer for tribunal which is arguably one of the best written bethesda DLCs already. Argubly skyrims combat system isn't great but even on legendary you can still have enough dps to kill enemies, but not Oblivion it's ALWAYS spamming and giant helath sponges. I despise skyrim leveling too- but oblivions is actually hell and unusable. Then you have dlc being p2w breaking progression, the god awful UI. The lack of care and effort put into actually walking around the world and it comes out to a total mess.

I like Oblivion but it's argubly the worst of the modernTES games

And a lot of the oblivion complaints, whether that be lore, consistency or game mechanics were heavily fixed in skyrim
