that's how little it cares world building wise

like cool every few scenes a character will mention BAULDERS GATE

I wish I just treated it as a combat encounter

the mind tadpole powers

needing like 20 long rests

to unlock

so you either miss a bunch of story options

idk how you're playing

or spam supplies to unlock the perk tree

but I hate that you get 1 use per long rest

(by default)

so if you want to go down that story path, you have to spam out sleeps

also

events take precedent over mind tadpole skill tree unlocking

so if you have companion cutscenes queued

or are playing dark urge

you need to rest even more

also resting progresses time

events can happen and characters can die

from you resting

like if you don't kill the bugbear assassin
