I think this summarises the issue I have with native isekai as a term
it seems to just apply to fantasy shows that are not isekais
when it would be more reasonable to call them fantasy, and maybe specify that they are not isekais
instead of saying native isekai

I am drawing a blank on non isekais to compare it to, however, thats because most of the fantasy shows I have watched are isekais
you can absolutely compare it to things like konosuba (more relaxed, comical world), but that is comparing the worlds
The closest non-isekai I'd compare it to is Magi
which is a pure adventure/fantasy show
Pokemon is probably the closest thing to it in a non isekai sense, and thats a reach
and barely close at all
but then the structure of Danmachi is wholly not an adventure show, it's structured like an isekai
its not though
and then has all the obvious tropes common to isekai shows
(that doesn't make it one on its own)
it has the obvious tropes like
-Has a character with knowledge from a different world
and
-Has powers/abilities stemming from the fact that he came from another world
other than the missing world change
hence
which are the two main isekai tropes
native isekai
I think that second point is mis-stated
it's not power/abilities from that other world, so much as it is perspective
I found an example of a comparable show
but you would also call that a native isekai
the reason Kazuma is so engaging in Konosuba
are you sure you guys aren't just thinking of things that have a "game-style" fantasy
is not because of some Earth power or his or Earth knowledge

that's what I mean when I say some isekai tropes Pirate
Kazuma is engaging because he is a straight man in the strange world a lot of the time
same with the harem
and how it's setup
because he is from outside the strange world
harems are not inherently isekai's though
things can share tropes without being the same thing
I don't think tropes make it an isekai
I think the nature of Bell's character in that world makes it one
but it's a native isekai, because to Pika's point, there's is no world change
