Get me tired enough I will do covers of all the songs
and sell it to you
I feel like you'd buy it
put that aside, you have legally purchased Rob's music album off band camp
you have a zipped folder of all his songs
what is that worth
1 cent per bit
Rob's still selling it I assume, it's still available for $10 on bandcamp (I'm not checking rn)
can you sell your folder of songs for $10 Pika?
if you pinky-promise to delete your copy afterwards
he is and its 5CAD
ok, replace $10 with $5
same question
does that folder of music have any worth
That's what I can't get over, call it a simple-minded view of the internet or whatever
but if digital content, which can be stored and reproduced for free, infinitely
has no value, can't be resold, can't be repurposed, can't be anything
maybe this thinking breaks everything, idk
does the file hold value if say I am the only person in the world who owns a digital copy of the album, and I offer to sell you a copy of my digital goods for 5 dollars
there are ways to make it work, but by in large I agree Rusp
people wouldn't adapt fast enough
I would totally download a car
downloaded
I own this car now
I think the solution to digital goods is collectively everyone has to pay a certain amount before the file is released
then it is free
interesting, I like it
neat idea
because my thought experiment you did not respond to made me think
obviously if only 1 person has a digital copy, it has value if you want to sell access
so if you force people to collectively pay say, 500k, before you release it
then it holds value until released
kickstarter
product is done, you hold consumers at gunpoint to use it
I don't think a majority of people agree with me
I'm aware of that
I understand where you are coming from
I just think it is a necessary evil that digital goods cost money since we have no better system in place
But the entirety of human knowledge is stored online
the entirety of our collective culture, our art, our media, our ideas, and whatever other bullshit catch-alls fit here
I think it's crazy the amount of paywalling that goes on, but I realize that it's the system we have now,
and I also think there is no moral or ethical reason not to steal said content
as I said, I am a staunch supporter of the idea that a service that is good will be payed for
as long as the service is better then the alternative (piracy)
I think digital media is a battle I'm on the wrong side of, even though it's what I believe
intelectual property however
that shit's fucked
fuck intelectual property
fuck patents, fuck IPs, fuck trademarks, fuck it all
I think the solution we should come to is banning the creation of new things
and make all old things public domain
legal bullshit already does not inconvenience me
I mean, law is not going to stop either of us
IT takes me 10 seconds to clear a background check to buy a gun
that's the maximum inconveniance I deal with
spooky can still walk on school ground
proof the law is ineffective
institute a Discord check
dude, if they had to check out discord accounts to buy a gun
