Have you ever noticed those red double-decker busses?
That's like telling people to wear a life jacket on a boat
Nobody does
Other than kid jackets
Bopit, I used to work at a marina, and rent boats to people
#1 question was "do I actually have to wear this"
Why do people not want to wear the stuff that could potentially save them
It's not that
Jackets are bulky, and for people using their boat, nobody wants to wear one
Parents put them on kids usually
You all act like life jackets do shit for people
99% of people renting boats knew how to swim
Though I have some stories of those who couldn't
but there's no harm in extra safety
Bopit, you can't swim across most lakes
Everyone thinks they can, but then they need to be rescued
Oh, and I worked on a big lake
Just like with walking, people tend to underestimate distances
So they think if they can see it, they can swim it
And people think "I'll swim accross, rest, then swim back"
And get maybe 1/3 of the way accross before needing help
They meant to climb out
And rest on the far shore
Most people don't understand actual swimming
The YMCA doesn't have a good way to simulate swimming long distance
Bopit, join the call
