and that's the only thing that really got his attention and he was like "we don't usually offer an internship but if you're that guy's kid I'll talk to the guys" and I didn't realize it until hindsight

and the guy I'm on the phone with thinks that the former sheriff guy is my dad

and coincidentally there just happens to be a guy who also has my dad's name and was also sheriff of my hometown at one point so he's known in this community of law enforcement

I've had the info on this phone for many years and originally it was my dad's phone and I never changed the caller id from his name

he doesn't pick up at first but he calls me back and asks me about my caller id

so I call the city police department nearest to my hometown and they transfer me to their guy who does recruiting

two I'm a criminal justice major looking for an internship in the field

one I used to be a lazy bastard I still kinda am

okay so I'm gonna preface this with two things

I have a funny story to tell related to my internship search so far

I keep it going and then I pass all my classes with good grades and I'm currently looking around for an internship

maybe even more than halfway

I actually like halfway give a crap about engaging with my classes and doing well

I'm moving different this semester

but yeah you're used to presenting

acclimated does not imply preparation

well maybe

so you already got the practice by proxy of just doing it a ton

I've had another taste of personal growth and success and I'm thirsty for more

I don't usually but I'm on a different method this year

yeah it was on the checklist legorhin oh you are one of the people that practices presentations (edited)

8 other people just went up there and stared at their laptops and read what was on the slides

if I was 1 guy and then there was another guy with a decent presentation

okay pretend like the class is 10 people total right

and I practiced it to have a grasp on how I wanted it to flow

my talking points were in my brain instead of just on the slide and I actually did research and cited my sources

because I actually bothered to follow the checklist our prof gave out and prepared properly

like best one in the class

it was a good presentation

I made it very clear like "okay look I'm speaking in very general terms here and I do not know very much at all but here's what I do know and here's my best theory"

I'm glad nobody will take my advice since I'm not a business major

it's gotta be a bad sign

that's the theory at least but the fact that I know this is a meme phrase in investing

yeah alright

okay so

I basically just said "yeah bro go buy tsmc and nvidia here's my anecdotal yet still researched opinion"

shits going into recession right and all the stocks are a little bit down and so in theory at least eventually things will come back up especially since a lot of the big tech companies are getting in on pushing advancements in artificial intelligence and microelectronics

the worst part is I don't think it was very bad advice at all Spooky Phijkchu lol bob

it was funny

I had to give a presentation for my intro to communications class and so I gave a short powerpoint about investing and it was basically just like 4-ish minutes of glazing microelectronic producers and the current government in the unitedz states

tangentially related to politics I kinda like

it'd be really funny but I think it's a little bit hasty

I dunno about all that
