Yeah Rob took a lot more of the money from Playmindcrack, but the biggest controversy about that was mostly that one of the lead devs, Nisovin, took nothing from it. I don't think that was involved really with the Mindcrack... break.

GenerikB is a whole different story. I don't fully recall his story, but he led some scam or another that caused a lot of issues and he was using the Mindcrack name, so Guude wanted to force a contract that would prevent willy-nilly use of the name Mindcrack so that scams like GeneikB did wouldn't happen again. And of course, nobody likes contracts, so things started to fall apart.

For what it's worth, a lot of people don't like Guude (he may or may not be a wife beater) and I think a lot of people were ready to be done with mindcrack anyway.

my understanding is that the copyright of mindcrack was because scammers were making fake mindcrack servers to steal from ppl and mojang got involved. then the contracts came around bc generikb and rob were doing illegal stuff. ive yet to figure out exactly what it was but guude says he found it problematic enough to bring members under contract to protect the group as a whole. generik and rob left bc of the contracts, etho left bc he didnt want his name to potentially leaked by legal docs, and PSJ left bc he wasnt into that kind of content anymore anyway

I don't remember anything about random scammers using fake mindcrack servers, but as I said, GenerikB was definitely doing some illegal stuff that required the contract. I don't believe anything Rob did was illegal. Just very much frowned upon.

yeah ive heard great and awful abt guude. i mainly just want to understand bc i remember as a kid being really confused about why everything changed so suddenly

And yeah, a lot of people left because they didn't want to have a contract forced on them or they were just generally done with Minecraft content. Minecraft was starting to die out really before it was revitalized in a major way again later.

But I would 100% blame GenerikB for the dissolution of Mindcrack.
thats the consensus ive come across. he's been widely recognized as a con artist by several communities

GenerikB and BdoubleO took money from several different servers. The biggest is WynnCraft (which was ran by Grian). They then made videos promoting the server without disclosing it was a paid promotion. Generik also used the Mindcrack name when playing on these servers saying that Mindcrack approves of it. Guude talks about a developer getting scammed of $400 because he thought it was an official Mindcrack server. Guude had to prevent them from fucking up the Mindcrack brand and had to make contracts.

went looking for a way to watch the old Urealms series without having to pay hoping somebody had archived the footage and found the rawb.art site

Was looking into old Mindcrack stuff and found the Guude rant video, then exploring the stuff I was more interested in, being rawb stuff

I was shockingly young when I followed it all and I did not understand table top roleplay or enjoy the very long shows but I felt like I couldn't miss anything, so I watched it until I didn't

Most people here knew he was an asshole for a while, him being a dick to Justin behind the scenes of urealms live was the first major crack a lot of people saw, which came out after he destroyed his career at the end of URL S3
