It doesn't have to say that Rob and Megan have to have trillions of kids to eventually produce a genius, just given enough pairs of tards, the likelihood of a pair of tards producing a genius just continues to rise.
Phijkchu_Pikachu rawb
I think that is a false way of using that principle. Its meaningless to say "they could be X" if the law of large numbers guarantees X, because all the law tells you is given enough sources of data, it will occure
sudo TPK rawb
"the probability c for the less likely event X to happen in N independent trials can become arbitrarily near to 1, no matter how small the probability a of the event X in one single trial is, provided that N is truly large."

if you said "two tards could make a genius, statistically" I would not disagree, but using the law of truly large numbers to justify how rob and megan could make a genius kid, is falacious
sudo TPK rawb
"Realistically? Or theoretically? Because the law of truly large numbers says the child could be the greatest genius to ever grace the earth." Saying that given enough samples - this does not have to be enough children of Rob and Megan, just children of two idiots - the law of truly large numbers would suggest that eventually, a pair of those idiots, eventually, would be more and more likely to conceive a genius. Rob and Megan could be that pair, not will.

"the law of truly large numbers says the child could be the greatest genius to ever grace the earth." That has nothing to do with the law of truly large numbers
Phijkchu_Pikachu rawb
I just did. The law of truly large numbers says nothing about the fact that rob and megan could be the ones to have a genius kid despite being retards themselves. General statistics and probability does. The law of truly large numbers just says that with certainty, with enough samples of retard parents, a genius kid will be born of two retards
sudo TPK rawb
Okay, I understand, I think. I was using the law of truly large numbers to say that a genius from two retards is likely to be born the more samples there are, but pointing it toward Rob and Megan is general statistics.

I was just confused as to how it applied, because I have done a fair bit of statistics and probability in my undergrad, and that seemed to conflict with my understanding of the law of truly large numbers.

I mean, I get the black part, but I'm not moldy, and I don't have damage to my brain, núr meine ZNS
the running joke is that you need 2000 words to get your point across but I do it in like 20

When you spend so long with shit you say being misunderstood because you try to keep it short, it kinda becomes natural.
yeah I know the feeling

I am super fucking burnt out on being that guy who writes text walls that nobody else wants to engage with so I just autopilot through most things
sudo TPK rawb
The person straight up said, "Nigga, I don't have any power here; you have to talk to your professors, because THAT'S HOW UNI WORKS. If they won't work with you because you can't get to class for two weeks, there ain't SHIT I can do, so you might as well drop the classes so it doesn't reflect poorly on you."
sudo TPK rawb
And then the hole which is filled with dick just goes, "I've had bad experiences with profs in the past so I'm not even gonna try, FIX IT FOR ME, KOBOOOOLD"
sudo TPK rawb
But I don't say I should be able to, have someone tell me "dude, that's not how it works," then go "MY THERAPIST IS GONNA HEAR ME BITCH AB0OUT THIS FOR FOUR HOURS"
sudo TPK rawb
btw, what fucking therapist offers four hour sessions for people like this? That seems like it'd have a higher suicide rate than subway drivers in NYC.
