I think Trump has gone about it in a dumb way, but the reality is you have two common countries with an arbitrary border that already means nothing to everyone in the North, and providing economic incentives to both sides to fold Canada into the USA will just eventually make too much sense not to do

I disagree with you, but I'm not here to change your mind or argue. I just haven't heard anyone say that. I agree that Minnesota's local police force refusing to cooperate with ICE was bad and that the mayor's decision to stand ground on that was ridiculous, but ICE's purpose is to transfer illegal immigrants, not be police officers and they aren't trained to do so, and extending their power to do that is causing a lot of friction. I'm not a "fuck ice" person, they have their purpose, but being masked and unaccounted for is crazy in my view.
