sorry
Even if nothing is ever really "private", I do agree irl stuff and private calls being uploaded is kinda lame
If it's produced, obviously it's different
But most of the time, I get being annoyed

I’m the opposite, the idea of being able to have a concrete record of stuff like meetups and events to look back on some day down the line is very appealing.
I do mostly agree with you on the date part tho
I think there is a difference of taking the occasional picture and "phone out 24/7" recording every moment
I don't do either though
Yeah, there is a bit of a balance to it, so you can have the memories but not be absurd about it

I feel like I did a good job of that with the first trip vlog that I put out, a little bit less with the second
Replying to Phijkchu_Cynnydaquil #vinnyg plus the idea of the amount of storage it would take to be filming 24/7 makes me shudder
if you record in non-overkill quality, it's not that bad
can fit most of a trip on one external 2-4TB SSD
unless you're REALLY trying to record every waking second
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 with no pre-launch fanfare or wishlists
that game had a fuckton of pre launch fanfare
So, I was partially wrong yesterday
It launched on a separate client 6-9 months prior and was a Kickstarter project backed by Kripp, the Steam launch was a week ago (which coincided with them changing the monetization model)
I looked into it afterwards, but stand by that there was zero fanfare other than Kripp and friends probably streaming it
was "everyone" playing it or was everyone (specific subset) playing it
I don't think it was that notable of a game, genuinely.
I'll take you at your word that it had a moment on Twitch when the Kickstarter release happened
I saw no clips
Not that I watch twitch much
(at all)
^^ same, Rob playing it was the first time I saw it
It also looked like dogshit when Rob played it
It looked like worse hearthstone
which I already don't like
The game looked like a below-average autobattler
But there was a lot of effort put into the animations
Style wise, copied hearthstone hard( which makes sense knowing the Kripp connection now)
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak was "everyone" playing it or was everyone (specific subset) playing it
Yeah not everyone everyone obviously, but like northernlion and all his adjacent bubble for example
I usually see northernlion clips pop up, guess I missed that one then
lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Did he drop it immediately? I watch NL a bit
really?
Is it just so unappealing that it was never clipped or shared anywhere?
I'm really not trying to shit on the game hard, it seemed passable or w/e for an autobattler
He had early access then right? His vids are all 8 months ago
wait
I read spookys thing wrong
so he played it right at launch
it was a non-Steam client, standlone thing
for 6-9 months or w/e
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 Is it just so unappealing that it was never clipped or shared anywhere?
nah like it was hyped as fuck everyone was loving it

I think the game is dogshit dont get me wrong
I think any indie dev who tries to do a stand alone launcher now is insane and deserves to fail
I think cubeworld was the last game that could get away with it
anything post that era is retarded
release it as a standalone exe
it does not need a launcher
I mean yeah
the real answer for why there was a stand alone launcher was
blizzard has one
so he was copying blizzard
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak I think any indie dev who tries to do a stand alone launcher now is insane and deserves to fail
somehow vintagestory is getting away with it
they're not
they just have a dedicated troon fanbase who shill it in force now
most of the other non-steam games are pretty low-key, and aren't anti-Steam
but since vintagestory is hardcore anti-Steam, Valve is the devil, bluesky coded, etc.
their fans generate a lot of retard arguments whenever they show up
