it's somehow less of a thing than base building was in Fallout 4 or 76

honestly i would have liked it if it were a system that turned into a kind of rimworld like screen and let you build that way

instead of trying to place stuff where you think it should go, and nothing working so you just give up

I was trying to figure out how the automated shipping lanes and fuel depots worked

turns out, they don't

i was trying to figure out how everything worked

plus with how you need companions to actually run it

I never really played much No Mans Sky

but I'm ready to try their next game

I feel like they've had time to nail the whole space base building thing

He burnt any possible good will I could have for him

I bought the alpha, had a ton of fun with it, will never play it or any future version again

he had a rob moment where he kinda had a mental breakdown and it all went downhill from there

for not wanting to be a celebrity, he does literally everything possible to garner attention

and yeah, I feel like if he walked away after failing, and came back doing LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE

Alpha is not a complete game, but its nostalgic to me

it just feels like he took the actual good parts of the game and removed them

he did nothing for ~5 years

which is what he says the new game hes working on will be, its supposed to be a finished version of the alpha

but like, probs will never be finished or even sent out to the public

I wonder if he squandered the money

he blew up, but it was early early

so it's not like some modern indie devs who blow up, and can pocket $20M

honestly the game would be better if he asked what people wanted, and not just assume

it's got really aggressive UE5 lighting

the same kind you see on AAA tech demos

and those AI upscaling projects

its a mix of old school voxel and new school lighting
