I'm still mindblown that DvZ was scripted, that makes so much why Justin was awkward in the very first episode
Do we know how long it was scripted?

It was light scripting, then got heavier and heavier until season 3 where I just think it was almost entirely scripted
Unless Rob rigged the random card selection, idk about that. I bet Rob gave them a list of character types he wanted and they made ideas based off that
but I do not think that was fully scripted, since honestly, as long as the characters were in theme, it did not really matter what abilities they ended up with
improv is easier than scripting in cases like that imo
Improv is easier than scripting in every case except trying to tell a cohesive story I think
oh, yeah
the fact he scripted anything is kind of retarded
upped his workload for no reason
The fact that he wanted urealms live to become some grand narrative was its downfall
"control" over the story doesn't matter when the story is made up as you go anyway
despite how much Rob claimed otherwise
Wait, was all his content scripted then?
"scripted" is a weird word
Heavily controlled?
to varying degrees. I don't think it was meticulous, but he definitely forced some things to happen then played it off as "completely natural"
The funniest example is modern rob, when he played that pokemon romhack and pretended the game was just glitched/cursed
that's not scripted though
it's Rob purposefully misrepresenting something, for the sake of humor
I suppose, I guess I would consider altering how something works then pretending it is not altered as scripting in a very loose sense
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak The funniest example is modern rob, when he played that pokemon romhack and pretended the game was just glitched/cursed
That drove me up a goddamn wall
similar to when they'd re-record something that got fucked up and "react" and make the same jokes as if it was the first time
I hate that kind of thing, but only when I notice it
and still, I'd often rather get the 2nd rate version, over nothing
Rob definitely exerted more and more control over the actions of the players in Urealms Live over time
that's the one case where it really was him scripting things
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 Rob definitely exerted more and more control over the actions of the players in Urealms Live over time
Its probably cause he was slipping
I think it was more the focus changed from being funny to telling a story
same problem modern Rob had with his GTA rp and his meta roleplay
he gave up on being funny
Rob is/was a top-tier comedian
but yeah, he hated being seen that way, and wanted to be some weird hybrid storyteller/roleplayer/producer thing
Trouble in Terrorist town really showed off Robs Comedian side
I think the only thing he released before urealms season 3 that was off what the buisness man meme
that is the only thing I watched thinking "this is not funny"
even during urealms season 3, I liked the divinity 2 salazar stuff
and some of the other stuff
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak even during urealms season 3, I liked the divinity 2 salazar stuff
I felt like by Season 3 people wanted it to be more story and lore though
or am I wrong?
the people who like Urealms season 3 and on are the biggest degenerate retards

like unironically, listening to them talk about how yikes season 1 and 2 is, and how they needed to be rewritten to be less yikes in robs discord
was the most cringe shit
hold on I have their script, they were working on an audiodrama retelling of urealms live
let me find and post this shit for you

there are some real banger documents I have from Robs server that are 100% unrelated to him
I still remember AZ when the genocide happened, people were posting shit in chat like "I am bawling my eyes out, this is so sad"
It was so fucking cringe
they were noname characters, from a barely fleshed out race
Replying to polu #polutropos I liked it when not every campaign was about a potentially world altering event (edited)
This^
Rob had the problem a lot of narrative shows had/ have of stakes escalation, which would not have been a problem if it was still a comedy focused show by season 3
but flipping from comedy focused to narrative focused made that problem an issue
Rick and morty kind of had a similar problem to urealms season 3 in its season 3 too though
where they flipped to trying to tell a grand narrative more than just being wacky adventures
which is why I stopped watching and never finished season 3
Its kind of the fate of comedy focused things where the creator gets their head stuck up their ass and thinks that they are a great writer with a story to be told
R&M kind of got back to what used to make them good
speaking of which
that terrible game came out today
That vat of acid episode you made us watch was good
