with Stadia, my only concern is that people who buy-into the cope about it not being a dead platform

will lose access to all the games they've bought within the next couple of years

since Stadia is a subscription + buy-to-play, for all the major games

People who are unironically building their collection on Stadia, will have nothing once Google pulls the plug

OnLive and Stadia are subscription services that let you also buy games to stream that you will have zero access to once the service shuts down.

Nothing exclusive to them, the exact same games you can buy physically or digitally on any other platform.

Steams not going to shutdown though, whether or not you believe Valve would distribute files like they used to say they would, Steam is a massive billion-dollar service that has a virtual monopoly on PC software distribution

And while Google could afford to keep Stadia running with no problem, if it continues to be as big of a financial loss as it is, they have zero incentive to.

If you want to buy a Stadia controller & a Chromecast stick, it's $100 from Google.

Right now, the play they're making is selling and integrating the underlying low-latency tech to other companies

It's pretty much the exact same situation as OnLive, but OnLive at least was an idea that was ahead of its time and made the company money when Sony bought it to convert into PS Now.

I've had game stores go under I used to shop on, before Steam became 100% open to indies

Desura being the one that I lost the most stuff on

but those were mostly $5-$10 games, maybe a $100 all-in

people have sunk hundreds or thousands into Stadia libraries

sold, sold and then went bankrupt, sold and then went bankrupt

I don't think I've actually lost digital games from stores being shut down. The closest I can think of is buying a game that used eLicense, the company shut down and stopped selling, and if you want to install the game on a new computer and register it, you have to contact the company that licensed the eLicense software to the publisher that shut down.

I've lost nintendo wii eshop games, that is the closest thing I have experienced

I used to buy those pack-in games like Plants vs Zombies on a couple storefronts too
